Never thought twice of going underwater with my 302 clipped to my shorts. My kid has it now and just picked up a 560. Any cons to freshwater excursions with the 560? Generally I'd spray the 302 with WD 40 after such carry.

ummm... I wouldnt worry about it. Living in an extremely humid area right now and no problems with corrosion. I have gotten it wet before, but as long as you wash it out afterwards, spray some very thin lube in the bearings, and blow out any residual gunk with a compressor, shouldn't have any trouble. I do this with all my folders if they go swimming with me... although I prefer a fixed blade or two for water use.

Waterborne ops?

When did swimming become "waterborne ops"?

My god, even hanging out at the pool has gone "tactical"...

Not everyone just hangs out by the pool. . . .

He was asking you for advice not to criticize his choice of words. I thought "Waterborne ops" was funny and original, and I wouldn't have read this thread otherwise..

OP, you should be fine as long as you don't let the knife stay wet for too long afterwards. Lube and a compressor are both good suggestions.

Thanks TL and El Bandito-thats kinda what I figured. In salt water I stick to my H1 Pacific Salt. Even the Randall Model 18 diver(SS) starts to freckle.

I doubt those guys are asking for advice on bladeforums...
I carried a model 18 when I was active with those guys. . .
Now-a-days I just take the kids and dogs on excursions to the creek. . .

took mine swimming a few months back, in a chlorinated pool and the bearings inside did get a bit corroded after swimming all day. If you have a way to dry it.... yes you can but there is a possibility of corrosion

I have never had a problem and my knife gets wet a lot. I dry it, clean it and oil it about every day so that also helps!
