I got a ZT 0560 a few days ago and I'm completely blown away by the quality of the thing. It's my first ever knife over $120 so it was a rather big step for me to spend $260. I must say, it's an exceptional knife and I've already placed an order for a black bladed 0550. I can't wait to get my hands on that.

My question is whether or not to USE the knife heavily. I'm known for using my knives quite extensively, but the ZTs are too damn nice. I know you can call ZT and get a replacement blade for $30 which is a huge plus. What are your opinions? To use or not to use...
 
i say use it and use it hard (not abuse). with the kershaw/zt warranty you really have nothing to loose.
 
It's a production knife and appears to be one that will continue to be made for some time. On top of that, if you do manage to damage the blade, they've got a great re-blade service now. So, no reason to keep it as a safe queen. Put it to use. :)

I really like my 0550. Even more so than the 0560. They are very different knives though. I find the 0550 easier/more comfortable to carry. It's still a hefty tank-like knife, but somehow it manages to ride pretty comfortably in pocket, despite its size.

This first batch of KAI-Hinderer collaborations has produced some great knives. Can't wait for round 2. :)

Welcome, they are a great knife indeed! I concur, definitely put it to good use and enjoy the thing! On a side note, you'll find that these are available for a great deal if you look around or ask. Enjoy the new knife!
 
I'm with flarp on the 550, I think you'll like it even more.
While I really like the 560/561 I think the 550 is a better EDC blade and it's flat out beefy.

I actually think the 550 is my favorite ZT ever. My 550 with a Preacher scale
