Man, I like everything about this knife. Good size, not to heavy, real heavy duty. It should be one of a heck of a EDC knife. But boy is this knife hard to open. I have to pull on the flipper about as hard as I can and then my fingers hit the jimping when it opens. Are all of them like that? I tried loosing the pivot but that did not help. Is the detent to strong? Is it where the knife is new? I really like this knife and hate to have to send it back because it is so hard to open. I do not push in on lock bar when I open it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Im not familiar with the detent set up on those. It may be that strong because some like to rip the torsion bar out and use it as a manual and many wanted ZT to start doing full detents on knives with speedsafe to facilitate that. But with that strong of a detent I cant imagine the torsion bar doing much word. You can send it in and they may adjust it for you. But I would recommend trying to buy from a place that will either let you handle them or take a special request and find you one in the inventory that opens easier than the rest.

My guess is yours has a nice detent. The torsion bar alone requires some pressure to break it over, then pair that with a good detent and I could imagine it being pretty tough to pop open. If it's new, I would imagine the detent will break in a little with use, and a little oil might help as well. I would bet yours would make a nice manual flipper with the good detent if you ever remove the torsion bar. Give it time though, it's one of the best EDC knives out there in my opinion.

Mine has a good detent, but I don't think its that hard to open....maybe some break in time

My 0770CF got a little hard to open and all that was required was some oil and some cleaning some of the pocket lint out.

Get rid of the assist. Mine was a MILLION times better without it.

The first time I tried it with the assist still in, it was almost impossible to open, but once I took the assist out, the flipping action was perfect. Not too hard to open, but still had a great detent.

That said, a little while ago I gave mine away to a fellow forum member because I wasn't using it much. Great knife though:thumbup:

Mine had alot of resistance at first as well, but after flipping it for a little bit it's pretty fast and easy to flip now.

Mine was a bit stiff out of the box but I polished the washers and all other metal bits that "rubbed" during the opening action and it opens much more smoothly and a lot faster.
It is still not as fast as my 770cf but I attribute it to the difference of blade weights.
