ZT 620 preordered; what's typical delivery time frame for new model?

I preordered the new ZT/Emerson collaborative effort, the 620, with carbon scale. My order went in within an hour of the email alerting me to the availability of preorder.

I know there's no way to predict precisely with a particular new model, but what would be the typical delivery trajectory for ZT, from announcement of a new model, to preorder to first deliveries?

When the store you ordered it from emails you to tell you that your order has shipped, about 2 days after that. ;)
The reason I think most companies don't post release dates, and give only vague answers like "Summer 2014" or "Winter 2014" is because if something happens to push back production or creates other delays, all hell breaks loose and people fall into a deep depression, the go bipolar and havepsychotic breaks. It's sad to see it happen because the majority of those having nuclear nervous meltdowns are adults, at least in the legal sense.

Wait it out.... I always try to estimate way longer than what its supposed to be so Im not let down.

Kind of like when you car breaks and you need to repair it.... you tell yourself its going to be expensive when you take it to the dealer and your happy they just raped you for 500 bucks instead of a grand.

I calculated the delivery trajectory for you. March 14th, by 7pm. See graph below for details.

Trust me, I'd love to know just as much as you would. Nobody knows though, and I've had ZT knives on pre-order for months/years with no delivery. If you search the forums here, you'll probably find a thousand threads asking, fruitlessly, about ZT/Kershaw delivery dates. Heck, at least you got a detailed graph with calculated delivery trajectory. I'm sure that's a first for a "when is the Kershaw/ZT knive going to be released" thread. ;)

If I had all the money in the world and could take control of some of these companies I would stop all the pre introductory stuff and not release information on a knife until production had at least started. I don't know why they do it the way they do it but there must be a good reason. I do know that one little breakdown in the process and they pretty much have to start over from scratch. I have seen ZT show a prototype at shot show and have it ready in 4 months and I have seen it take over a year. You never know but complaining about it is pointless. You get in as early on the pre order and then try to focus on something else for the next 6-9 months. Might be a good time to have a baby!

We should just be grateful we don't live in Venezuela, where the only knife you can buy is a Bear Grylls Gerber clone made by the government.

Based on recent releases, for regular production Zero Tolerance knives like the 0620CF you need to give it a good 6-9 months. Perhaps a little longer for the CF ones. ZT 0770CF was announced during the 2013 Blade Show which was 9 months ago (May 31 - June 2, 2013) but no sign of it yet although ZT did change their Facebook cover photo to the 0770CF just yesterday so that could be a good sign if you're an optimistic sort.

Now, if you think that's frustrating I suggest you don't even contemplate a limited edition ZT!

Its true, my moms a shrink, NNMD syndrome is an often misdiagnosed condition most prevalent in knife nuts, other common symptoms include obsession with shiny metal things and the need to sit and fidget with dangerous objects.

Two ZT 620CF already on its way to me woot! Can't wait to play with it! Hope it pushes my Emerson CQC-15 out of my pocket. ;-)

Clearly you know something we don't since it seems to be universally unavailable still.

The vendor emailed me around 4pm today and asked me how many I wanted since he has them in stock now. I emailed him back, he sent me a paypal invoice, paid and done! The vendor is on here as a sponsor I believe, and everyone loves his blems ;-).

Hmm, well if it's Kershawguy he certainly hasn't updated his website. Strange, I thought we were still very far away from the 0620.

He shipped mine out. I'll post pics when I have them in hand. :-) I usually get knives within 2 to 3 business days when he ships then out to me :-).
