Just got a ZT640. The edge bevel is pretty coarse but it does cut extremely well. What does ZT use for grinding the bevels? I assume it's done on a belt but what grit/coarseness do they use?

I'm super excited to get my customized 0640 for X mas.

I did get to inspect it and the edge is a bit coarse just like my Spyderco and BM knives have been in the past. Not sure of the grit. I dont think it really matters either.

I always put a way more refined edge on anyway. If you want coarse sharpen it with a diamond.

Thanks for the reply BellaBlades. I always reprofile the edges on any new knife I get. I've used diamond stones for quite a few years and take my edges to 1200. Sometimes strop with diamond paste to take them to a mirror finish. My question was my curiosity of what ZT actually uses.

It's a mystery for most what any company uses.

I also take my edge to 1200+ ceramic and finish on .5 micron dmt paste on leather. Great way to keep and edge !
