I'm probably late to the party on this one but I just got a good look at tbe Zero Tolerance 801 Cf/M390. Wow , that thing is beautiful. Is it a limited run knife ? Anyone know where I may still be able to buy one brand new ? Can't seem to locate any.

Good luck finding one from a dealer at this point believe all have been sold so ur only shot is on secondary market where prices have about doubled already. Its been a very very hot iteam with many people still tryin to hunt one down. I havent seen a number higher than 803 so far so its a very limited run

There's always a chance that a few more will pop up with dealers as they may not all have been released togethers, but you'll have to be scouring the internet like a hawk-eyed octopus to get one before they're snapped up. It's another of those ZT specials where they produce far fewer than the demand to the exclusive benefit of scalpers. I don't understand the business model myself, but then I'm not in business.

I was looking around to see if I can could one at a reasonable price (i.e. normal ZT 20% off retail). The best I was quick enough to find was being offered at full retail, and for me the knife is not different enough from the regular 0801 to be worth it.

What's the normal retail price ? I don't even like flippers. But I'm willing to make an exception for this knife if I can ever find one.

MSRP was $400 but even some online dealers were selling them for full MSRP. See if you can find one at a local retailer. Even at MSRP + tax it's a good deal. Otherwise, they're in the $500+ secondary market pricing.

I bought the og 0801 and sold it pretty much the next day. Not my style. I wasn't going to pick up the CF either. I had the opportunity to pick one up and man am I glad I did. It really is heads and shoulders better than the OG. Its an incredible piece and ZT knocked it out of the park.

The fact that people buy them and scalp them is not part of ZT's marketing strategy. Its merely a side effect and is not exclusive to knives.

I've seen a lot of dealers selling this one for full MSRP or even well over MSRP.

Does that make them "scalpers"?

No, dealers are just that: dealers- licensed to sell first hand. They are free to charge whatever they want just like anyone else but those you speak of are on the secondary market. Surely though, you can find a dealer's price to be disagreeable also. That's when you vote with your wallet and shop elsewhere especially when buying standard production knives that they can't take advantage of.

I look at it differently. The MSRP for the 0801cf is $400, if a dealer sells it over MSRP then to me they are no different than the "scalpers"

What they are is institutionalized flippers.

Like any other scarce good, a ZT0801CF must be rationed. What do you believe the rationing mechanism should be, if not by price?

I scored mine for 299$ to my door....so not everyone was tryin to make hundreds of dollars per knife like some dealers.....I find that sad and have list of those I seen doing it so Id be sure never to buy frim them. Thats just how I feel though not saying its right or wrong just how I do things

There were three MSRPs for the 0801CF. KnifeCenter had it at $320 and consequently sold its preorders at $256 which is MAP (20% less than MSRP). Some others had their MSRP at $340 and sold at that price or a MAP of $272. The true MSRP was $400 and thus a MAP of $320. Of course, they were sold at quite a few prices. A number of online dealers sold it at the full $400 MSRP! Many dealers had very few allocated to them.

Im gurssing there hasnt been more than 700-750 released? anyone hear anything different? Im only guessing off of the highest ser # Ive seen being 0803

Non of you "need" a 400 dollar knife, if you "need" a tool you can get by just as good with a 30 dollar tool.

This talk about dealer pricing and scalping is childish IMO.

Don't complain because you did not pre-order like the others that received the better deals and now you decide you want the luxury and are somehow entitled.

I'm sorry but it doesn't work that way.

If someone flys across the US to blade show spends a grand or two on the trip, wins a knife lottery and buys a knife for 500 dollars should they sell it on the forums for 500 so someone doesn't get their feelings hurt ?

I believe the MSRP 380.00

I dont think its childish doesnt everyone know matter the product shop around so they dont over pay for iteam? No one likes to be taken advantage of and I feel thats what was happening and this is a thread to talk about such things. I respect ur view but calling people u dont know childish for doing samething everyone does for products is over the line alittle

I don't hold it against anyone for " shopping around " for the best price, I do it all the time.

There are times we shop for the best price and there are times I pay the going rate...if I want something now I pay the price !!

My post was not directed at "shopping around "...It was directed at calling people "Scalpers"....Just sounded like a bad word for doing what everyone does.

Personally I don't think anywhere near 700 have hit the streets.

Look at the prices the 888 are bringing...how many made ? 500 ?
