ZT 801 vs 801CF

I have a ZT 801CF on preorder from Knifecenter, but I have heard that in the past Knifecenter promised more knives than they could deliver. I've heard a lot of great things about the 801, and I don't want to miss out on an awesome knife. Can I trust that I will receive the knife, or should I get a regular 801 now in case the preorder falls through?
 
I would wait it out, the 0801 isn't going to get discontinued any time soon. on the other hand you could just get one now and sell/trade it off if KnifeCenter comes through on the pre order, or keep both. :D

Anyway, the 0801 is a nice piece, you'll be happy either way I think.
 
The regular 801 isnt in danger of going anywhere so there is no rush. They are a great knife though and you may just want one for the heck of it. They can be had pretty cheap now. As to knifecenter its a craps shoot. I will say they have got INFINITELY better with how many preorders they will take. I cant speak for everyone but my experience with them has been great. I preordered a ZT0600 from them and bought one when I had the chance from another dealer when it was available for the very reason your worried about. I called knifecenter numerous times and was reassured that I would be getting one I was just later in line but that they would in fact be getting enough to cover my order. They told me about late august to mid september and sure enough first week of September I got the call my knife was on its way. Mind you I did NOT preorder early and many told me I was never going to get the knife.
 
I preordered the first day they put the knife up, so I think I'm not too late in the list. I'm only worried because other preorders didn't even last a whole day IIRC. I guess I will continue to wait it out, worst case scenario the money I have set aside will go to another awesome knife. Thanks guys.
 
Did you get an email while back saying that the 801CF was in stock and shipping. Cause KC made a mistake and had to email everyone saying that it was a mistake. I ordered mine the first day and I got both of those emails. There a thread about it...if you want to check it out. Anyways I have a 801. It's a great little knife. It looks totally different than the CF one that's coming. So if you have the money , I'd get both!

Yup I remember those emails. If I get the itch really bad again, I'll probably end up getting the 801. It's tough to go wrong adding another ZT to the collection :D
 
I was also one of the first ones who ordered the ZT 0801CF from KC back in May. Fortunately, they stopped taking orders and now it shows up as "Discontinued" on their website. Also, if I remember correctly the preorder came in at under MAP because they had the wrong MSRP.

ZT 0801 is already very nice and consider that with ample supplies you can get one now for over $100 less than the ZT 0801CF.

I'm guessing that we'll see the ZT 0770CF and 0801CF within the next couple of months. I hope ZT doesn't spend even more production capacity with the various BlackWashed models. Going a little overboard there. I'm sure we'll 0566BW and may be even 0801BW.

I did as you did and got my ZT0600 the first week in September!
