I kind of like the materials and craftsmanship of ZT knives but I don't have any. I'm not a big fan of frame locks. I like for both sides of the knife to have same scale material.

I checked their website and filtered by lock type and they only have a single model with scales on both sides (0770CF assisted, yuck).

I get that they favor frame locks, but didn't think EVERY knife was designed this way. Am I missing something or is this pretty much their thing?

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a couple vids showing you can de-assist the 770. If that’s the only issue for you with that particular knife. If I didn’t already have a few other knives similar to it, and wasn’t looking more at traditionals these days I’d prob get one myself and lose the assist. Although I hear as far as assisted knives go, it’s supposed to be pretty good.

There are several linerlocks in ZTs lineup and even the discontinued ones can still be found.

0770, 0350, 0909 (this one isn't assisted) or a 0200 (also manual) if you can score one.

I'm a bit of a ZT fanboy, so I like them all. The 0770 is lightweight with a great handle/blade ratio, easy to carry in any type of pant. The 0350 is one of the original ZTs, some people find the handle a bit short, other than that it's a little tank. The 0909 is similar to ZTs first offerings but withe better blade steel and a great understated design, a bit on the heavy side for some folks.

A few yes. Some older ones like the 0500 MUDD, 0750, 0700, 0200 as well as others mentioned above. ZT also had two autos, the 0610 and 0650 which are button locks. The 0777 was a sub framelock, a mix of the two. Same with the 0999 I believe

One of my favourite ZT is the 0350
It is an heavy liner lock and one of their old design.

It comes with assisted opening but it is easy to deassist if you prefer it like this and it flips well even when deassisted

The 0770 is great too butI never owned one.
On the paper is has great materials and is lighter.
But I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Dont know why companies like ZT dont make a nice tough backlock to add to their fold. They claim to be tanks yet use framelocks...frame locks are for convenience not strength, there’s always a compromise, as said Chris Reeve himself back in the day. Yeah you flipper fans might not like backlocks, but look how many backlock spydie enduras, delicas, salts, police models have been sold. People DO want them.

I had an 0350BW which I de-assisted and liked quite a bit. I still have my 0909 which is a tank of a liner-lock. While discontinued, they do pop up on the Exchange for reasonable prices. The 0909 is a Les George design, which is another plus.

I carry a 350 everyday. I can't seem to find a better balance between build quality, size, and value that I like more.

I will say that I like the 909 even better. Actually, the more I use the 920, I find myself going back to the 909 more. It's a big, heavy, beast, and I appreciate that about it.

I really do wish that ZT would release more hardcore HD use folders. I'd be all over a 300-series re-release. I keep eyeing the 804 at the LGS. Not sure if I want to pay that much for it though. It's a frame lock, though.
