How tough is the ZT blade coating? Does it come off or get scratched if the knife is used - like for cutting more than paper or soft plants, say? Does it get scratched by cutting cardboard? Or sticks?

cat,

It is very tough. The coating is Tungsten DLC and it is very hard. It will not get scratched by cutting any of the things you mentioned.

Another member asked if the coating was coming off when he had the knife in his pocket. He thought that his keys were scratching it. It was actually the keys rubbing off onto the coating. Oil it, wipe it, good to go.

Thanks, Tim. <sigh> When I saw first saw them, I thought they were ludicrous. :D I was going to get the 0300 USN version (I was just trying to figure out which of the maxpedition bags to order at the same time, because it wouldn't affect the cost of the EMS/international shipping much), but then I looked at photos of the 0301 and 0302 and I want the tiger stripe blade. :D Only problem is the place where I want to get it only has the USN left. ...........Then again, they do have the 0100 and the 0121, so maybe I'll just go crazy and get one of those as well. ... But it would be better if I controlled the obsession and got one knife a month. :o

Starting the last two weeks lusting over the 0200 and 0300 the last days the 0121 caught my eye too .This is really one of a kind of a sexy line of production knifes.I may have to try the lotto for getting more knifemoney))
BTW,maybe you took notice of it anyway already,NewGraham now sells the ZT's too. They have the tigerstripe ones I think.

Yes?What's the matter then?
Just asking because they've catered me well more then one time in the past.Have they changed their overseas guidelines?

Just that they say first time customers must pay by Western Union.

Ah,I see. That must be new then.
.....steep Money Order Fees....who doesn't like them?:D

I think it is. For me, Western Union is not an option. Aside from the cost, I would have to find them, call them, and they would probably be inconveneient in a "third world" way. I also will not go to the bank to get a money order - it's very expensive, I would need the seller's bank details, and the only time I could do it would be Saturday mornings.

I buy $$$$ of stuff online and there are many sellers who do it, so why should I bother with those who have a bad attitude about it? newgraham says that it is impossible to verify credit card details (something like that.) Well, there are thousands of vendors who seem to do it ok. And there are others who do it by paypal. Like jkd, who are not a big company, but they do payment by paypal, and EMS shipping is $7, and their service is excellent.

As it is, there is the added cost of paying VAT on delivery, and of course $40 + for shipping. So, put it like this, I don't want to pay a total of about $390 for a $300 item.

Yes,the fees for the money orders alone are already a big turnoff...then comes the shipping, taxes when it arrives .
Which company is "jdk"?I'm always thankfull to find sources which ship at low costs to Europe.
