Has anyone stipped the blade coating off a ZT? I have a ZT 350 and I hate the black blade. I recently took the coatings off a CS and Blackhawk which really improved the look. Thinking of doing the ZT, but it is a AO. Dont really know if I want to take a chance on screwing up the workings.
Anybody?

IIRC I think Ive seen a ZT with a stripped blade. I think it was here, but it may have been over at edcforums. I have not stripped mine, but if you do strip it make sure you are careful and keep it oiled as the coating is what protects the blade form rusting.

DLC is pretty hard stuff to strip, if I was going to be stripping a zt, I'd be using my belt grinder with scotchbrite belts. Otherwise it would take hours and a lot of work.

i didn't like the black coating ether, thats why i spent the extra 20 bucks for the stone wash satin finish. money well spent IMHO

Yep, there's another option, but he already owns a coated version.

You could probably find someone to stonewash or beadblast it.

With S30V you don't need a coating to protect from rust, just common sense.

Everybody was out of the non coated vesion when I purchased mine. I have the equipment to sand or bead blast, but was hoping just to strip it and leave a natural finish. And for this steel, the coating may help with rust prevention, but I dont think rust will be a problem if I do strip it.
