Hey guys, I'm sure you are aware that ZT replaces broken blades for $30. Has anybody had this done? Does anybody know if they would sell you a blade even if your existing one is fine? What about hardware (screws, standoffs, etc.)?

Reason I ask, is because I think it would be cool to have extra parts like screws, blades, lock-faces, stabilizers, washers, pivots, etc. for sale. I would literally buy 2 spare sets of hardware and an extra blade since it will be a hard user. I've lost screws in the past and I hate sending my knife out. I don't have a ZT yet, but I have an 0562cf on preorder and would like spare parts.

I'd hate to need spare parts on a discontinued knife :grumpy:

Blade replacement has been discussed before, it's been available for a while now. I do not think they will sell you a blade. You have to send your knife in and when you get it returned, it will have a new sterile (no markings) blade. You can get clips, torsion bars, screws, etc. You cannot get scales, lock sides, liners, or spare blades sent. If that is what you want to do, I'd suggest having someone make you scales.

Sending the knife out is a requirement. Not everyone that can buy a knife can use a screwdriver/torx driver. Sad, but such is life. It actually creates anxiety in some people having to take a knife apart to do something as simple as replace a torsion bar. Go figure.

RevDevil, I understand those parts of the warranty, but I didn't know if they would be willing to sell me a single blade, standoff, etc.

I completely agree that some people aren't very crafty with taking a knife apart, but wouldn't it be nice to have the option to either send it in and pay shipping etc, or, just buy the parts you need? Not only would it make some customers like me happier, but they will also be making money off of small things like screws and such. I've always wanted a warranty like that!

But hey, what do I know? I'm a new guy here lol

They wouldn't be making any money, the cost of screws/small parts is really small, but they would have to charge ridiculous prices for those parts to cover the shipping charges. Blades would be nearly the same. There's no way to verify if people just want an extra blade, or if they genuinely need one as well. Just my opinion. :)

Thats true. Then I'd be on here complaining how a single screw costs $10 :p

While I agree it would be nice, but i can't speak for them. It may be financially restrictive and a potential liability. I imagine their warranty make more people happy than not. It's hard to bat a 1000 and please every, but they sure come close and they try pretty hard. In fact, I don't know any company that mails put spare blade, I've never heard of that.

Me neither lol! With never owning a zt and seeing their "broken blade" warranty, I thought they might offer other parts also (which they do, but not what I'm talking about). But, I'm still happy with what they offer!

The lock face on the blade has to be precisely ground to fit the lock bar on the knife it will be installed in. I'm sure they could send you a blade, but the odds of the lock functioning properly are very low.
