I have a ZT 0560 Hinderer that the assisted opening has slowed, I must give it a whip to get it to open.

I think (could be wrong) that the bearings are dirty with lint and such. So, I want to disassemble it to check and clean it. Before I get in over my head is there anything I should know before beginning?
Thanks in advance, David

Is the 0560 even assisted or just a ball bearing flipper?

Aside from that it's pretty straight forward, just clean up the bearings, and use a good set of bits.

560 is not assisted ... the smaller 566 is ...

but if it's the 560 ... it may just need a good cleaning and light (very light) lube

it is pretty simple to disassemble ... just watch as you take it apart ... do it on a surface you can see the parts easy ...

biggest thing ... use the right size bits so you don't strip any screws ...

if you like you can just search "ZT 560 disassembly" on YouTube ... there are several videos I'm sure.

oh ... when you reassemble it ... you may have to center the blade ... but it's pretty straight forward on a frame lock ...

if it favors one side ... loosen the pivot slightly and the body screws ... hold the blade over to the opposite side it was favoring ... tighten the body screws and then the pivot and it should help center the blade ...

but if you check out YouTube videos they will probably show or talk about that too.

Yeah, I have to do that with my 0562, otherwise just about every other ZT I own goes back together pretty flawlessly. Once the pivot is nice and snug it's usually centered and if it binds you know you tightened it too far. A drop of oil never hurts either.

No surprises inside, but I did have something similar I cleaned and lubed mine though. I ended up putting a tiny tiny dab of oil where the detent ball track is and it's butter smooth now. Even with the amount of dirt that ends up in my pockets at work I haven't had to reapply so far.

Yep, ZT's are usually pretty easy to strip down and re-assemble. The toughest one so far was my 0470 since it needed a bit of heat to break the pivot free, but thats about all I can remember. I agree, a little dab of oil on the pivot and detent ball will get the action smoother than ever.
