I am Just wondering: What Is the EXACT Relationship Between ZT Knives and Mick Strider? There are Many People on here that WILL NOT Buy STIDER knives because.....Blah blah blah.

So..... I am Wondering what the EXACT Relationship is Between STRIDER Knives, and ZT/Kershaw.

Everyone, (well, not "everyone", ) here loves ZT knives but won't touch a Strider.

BUT, Mick Strider and Ken Onion are Very VERY GREAT friends, along with Jerry Hossom and Ken Brock.... so he Can't Be Such a bad Guy as Posted in a few 1,000 page threads.

So..........., Does anyone know the EXACT relation ship between STRIDER Knives and ZT Knives and Ken Onion?

Please Enlighten me.

From My naive understanding it seems KAI owns Kershaw and ZT?

And ZT are a collorabation Between Mick Strider and Ken Onion?

Would that be somewhat Correct?
 
I am Assuming that the thumbs up symbol mean that I am Correct???


So coming to that conclusion, If you are on a thread and say F*** Mick Strider, But at the same time, have a ZT as your favorite EDC.....ummmmm.......

That would make you a complete Hypocrite?

Or you Just don't know the relationship?

Would that be a correct assessment?

On certain models yes. The 500 was a Grant and Gavin Hawk design, some were just Ken Onion designs.

BUT, Mick Strider and Ken Onion are Very VERY GREAT friends, along with Jerry Hossom and Ken Brock.... so he Can't Be Such a bad Guy as Posted in a few 1,000 page threads.

F*** Strider, But a ZT Designed By Them Is Ok??

And He's so Bad One of his Best friends and business partners is Ken Onion and KAI/Kershaw knives. So you Buy a ZT, You are Putting Money In Strider also. But F*** Strider still?

Is that how it works?

Or are some just ignorant of the relationship?

Or is it Just the thing to do around here is say F*** Mick Strider?

It's a place for people to enjoy the many uses of knives and the collecting hobby that comes with it. Not a place for people to pick fights and question the ethical standings of the individuals that work quite hard to make this one of the best sources of knife related info.

I have no problem with Strider and I like both Strider and ZT knives.

If you're noticing specific people doing what you're talking about, then it would seem like there's some hipocrisy going on unless, as you mentioned, they are unaware of the situation. But unless you ARE noticing specific people doing it, then I don't see any reason for making general statements insinuating that there's any hipocrisy going on at all. If you haven't observed someone doing both, then that's a strawman and its picking a fight for no apparent reason.
 
Integrity is more important than ever these days and Mick's integrity is at least questionable referring to his concocted 'military' background, so I am quite reluctant to buy his knives. That does not mean that he can't make and design decent knives, and have friends. And as ZT is supporting the PVA fund, I am more willing to buy ZT's even if Mick will get some credits too. That aside, I am no fan of ZT's. I've had some recurring blade play issues with both 301 and 200 (although Kershaw's CS is close to perfect) and they are too bulky to serve me as EDC.

Look at my OP. The question I asked. I thought I was correct, but wanted to check and make sure.

I was confirmed.

And ABSOLUTELY thats is what is going on. I can go though thread after thread with People talking about their new ZT, But then are also one of the thousands in the "F*** Strider" posts.

I can waste all my time and post it, but it is pointless. It's Confirmed for me.

Anyone that has said F*** Strider, Rub Your ZT and Blow off some steam:jerkit:

Or at least you Know the relationship now, in case you where Ignorant of it.

Well, This thought started in th thread about the gentleman complaining about his Strider PT and I found it Odd that the same people Saying they would never Buy a Strider, Not because of quality but because of "Integrity", Some even with ZT as an Avatar, and others in the Kershaw section drooling over the ZTs.

I call that a Hypocrite.

Integrity? Who Owns KAI?

You certainly hit the nail on the head.;)

According to what I've read, Strider collaborated with KAI/Kershaw on three models, the 300 series, the 121, and the Shroud Cutter JB2. This is information even you could have fairly easily obtained had you been willing to do just a tiny bit of your own work.;)

The only ZT knives that appeal to me (I don't have any yet) are the MUDD and the 200 series, neither of which Strider designed.

I asked a Question that was Important to me about the relationship. It was answered. I Gave MY Opinion Of the situation being Hypocritical. PERIOD. I get the Typical Bladeforums response by smart A****.

ZT, like Kershaw, is owned by KAI. ZT collaborated with Strider on three models they make. ZT is not owned by Strider. Kershaw is not owned by Strider. Kai is not owned by Strider. Simple enough?

Perhaps you'd like to start discussing Buck Knives, since at one point they collaborated with Strider on several models?:rolleyes:
