They say that this new comer is produced by Kershaw in collaboration with Strider, etc. Nice design and nice material. Do you guys have any usable info or experience with these knives? Any comments appreciated, good or bad. Thx and Cheers.

dont own one, but handled a few at the last plaza show. much larger that i expected, very thick and wide. very stout.

smooth action and solid lock up. i had thought about buying one but a little large for carry to me.

very good quality and i like the designs.

My ZT 301 is easily the most rugged folder I own (and I own a lot of big rugged folders). There's enough steel in the blade to make four "normal" tactical folder blades. The titanium and G 10 scales are thick, and the pivot pin is oversized. The Speed Safe assisted opening functions flawlwssly, and it locks up so securely, it takes a LOT of force to unlock it.

If I had to go to war, and could take only one folder, this is it.

Dog Man, I understand even if you wanna say that this knives will go to hell and back. But is it really hard to EDC this knife? Is it comparable to... let's say Strider or Sebenza?

They are well made knives. I have the 301 and the 200 and love both.

I can hardly stop playing with either of them for even a day. I mailed off the 301 to a friend to check out and its hard to go without it around. I don't carry it much but I just like having it on the computer desk to play with. :D

The 200 on the other hand, is carried and seeing a lot of use. I love it! I'd rate it the single best liner lock ever made. Seriously.

high praise coming from you, especially considering the work you have done on your emersons, which btw look fantastic.

Yeah I know it is high praise. And thanks for the compliments. At the least the 200 is one of the best I have ever handled. I can't say I've handled all of them but quite a few. I think this knife will give the end line user some serious life expectancy and wear well. I mean with a hardened stainless lock of .080 thickness it has a lot of strength going for it.

Sometimes these bigger knives are easier to make the locks defeat on than shorter smaller ones but for what its worth, I've tried the Cliff Stamp lock defeat technique of wrist flex, and log splitting with this puppy and all it did was make some really good fire wood for me. Now they just need a PT or CQC14 sized folder in their ZT line up and they'll have all the bases covered.

That's some pretty high praise. I assume you have seen the Al Mar SERE 2000 (one of my EDC's)? Not comparing them in a tactical design sense, but if it's a better liner lock than the Al Mar, that's saying a lot. To me, (not seen a ZT knife yet), the SERE 2000 has the best liner lock made for a production knife. So if the ZT lock is better, or even equal to the Al Mar, it has a good lock. Thanks for the info. I may have to pick one up. They sure look nice.

Question: anyone know why are they not available at more dealers? A little price competition would being the price down. Thomas W?

Regards

I have had both a Sere 2000 and the Mini Sere until recently and both are nice liner locks I agree. Look at the 200 Zero Tolerance though. You'll see what I mean.

No. It is at least twice the weight of most of my usual EDCs, and larger in most other ways, as well. For around town, my Sebenza or carbon fiber Military is much more comfortable. I carry the ZT on hikes sometimes, although my Ontario Hossom Retribution 1 is quickly becoming my favorite outdoor folder.

I find the ZT, and all my big heavy folders, to be more comfortable and easier to carry in a custom made pocket holster from Mika's Pocket Holsters:

Robert Mika's a retired law enforcement officer and a real good guy.

Damn, you're making my mouth water and I'm not even hungry!

bp, limited production, they are not available at more dealers because I don't have stock to fill them up.

They are also not available through distribution so you won't see deep discounting or internet price cutter's offering up the line. The dealers that are in place (there are many) have been asked to hold the price, and they have been happy to do so.

As usual, you're very helpful. Glad to see you back.

As a pimper I should probably hate the ZT knives. The two I have are going to be a rare thing to see in my safe or in my pocket when I am carrying them due to the fact that neither will end up modified. Nothing can be found by me anyway that could be improved upon with either one or changed to suit me better and especially the 200. I just love this knife. Its perfect as it comes from the factory.

STR, I really appreciate your real world approach and the way you are able to express yourself here. You put in a bunch of your time, and I am probably speaking for many when I say ths, thanks for that. Enjoy your ZT's.

Darn you, darn you all.

I've noticed the posts and the pics and have been getting genuinely interested in the ZTs. Sadly, my wife is not very excited about my knife habit at the moment...

Wonder how long I can take the pressure. That ZT301 certainly looks sweet to me.

Perhaps I can hold off long enough to actually handle one before buying.

I can't wait to get my hands on the ZT 0400! Why is this model not more popular? Is it too "Mall-Ninja"? I think it is like a Kershaw Blur on Steroids! S30V Blade, nightmare-style tanto grind, Trac-Tec inserts, and a Beefy Liner Lock. AND A FLIPPER!!! ...drool

The nightmare tanto blade is proabably why. I want a 200 for a big EDC and the blade is well suited towards a variety of cutting tasks. The 400 seems to be more in the "if I was gona stab someone this would scare the crap out of them and then puncture well" look. with the recurve edge it may well cut well but tanto blades are more for looks and battoning than bieng a multi-use blade shape (this is my opinion and many do not share it). All that said it is one mean looking knife. I wouldnt mind having one aorund, it just wouldnt be my edc.
