as in something that is dead evident that one is a fake etc? I have a friend who might have a fake.can you tell real from fake by one or two significant points? He has an 0350 . would the blades be magnetic? maybe something else?

thanks in advance.

It's made of steel...

The only one I have seen (pictures of) was a fake 0560, and if you have ever seen a real one it was not even close.

Probably take some close up pics of the knife in question and some members may be able to help you out.

well that answers that one,lol thanks man.

On here we kind of look at steels under a major microscope as far as characteristics and ingredients of the respective alloys. When you see steel composition talked about, they tend to focus on miniscule amounts of certain elements and their influence on the alloy (Nickel, Vanadium, Silicon, etc.), but (by mass) the vast majority of "steel", in a broad sense, is iron (FE).

I doubt it's fake. Thankfully I haven't seen many fake ZTs around. The counterfeiters usually stick to Spyderco, Strider, Hinderer and others.

Well after review I think its real, one thing is that most of the pics I have examined the blade has Kai Patented then the 0200 Made in U.S.A. on the top. this one in question and a few others (very few) i have looked at doesn't have the word Patented on it.
did some of the newer ones have the word Patented left off the blade? The word Kai is there and everything else.

even the Kai website showing the 0200 has the word Patented.
