I am going to sell this to a friend. It's New, unused condition. However it's without the box (kept in plastic since purchased.)
What would you consider the value to be for such a knife - I know these are hard to come by. And to a collector - does not having the
box really a deal killer or take away the value substantially in your opinion..?

so is it the MUDD 500 or the hinderer-designed 550? two different knives there.

Also, a box is only important for collectors, those who want to use a knife don't really care too much about whether it has a box or not. I'd say it doesn't impact resell value that much, but then again I'm no collector.

I paid $300 for one new in box off the exchange about a year ago. I've seen them for a little less '260ish', so that's probably a good ballpark guess.

There is one, very close to new, on the Exchange right now, for $300. No box.
It has been sitting there, with the price coming down, down, down.
The box is probably $100 value in a collector item like that.
The poster who said $200 max to a friend, is probably right on target.

If you search complete listings on that auction site you'll see some interesting prices. $200 no box to a friend sounds right, blems have sold for that much.

I have owned two about a year and half ago. I payed about 120-150 each lighly used. 200$ is most what they are worth in my opinion in new condition. The prices of 200-300+ I have been seeing just stumps me.

They sell between $300 and $400 NIB. On the lower end without a box.

To a friend without a box I would agree with the others ~ $200.0 ish
