I've always been a G&G Hawk fan, so when I learned of this Zero Tolerance collaboration, I took notice. My ZT 0500 MUDD just arrived this week and I've just gotten a chance to handle it.

My first impression was of its weight: it's on the heavy side. That said, I didn't get this one to put in the EDC rotation; rather I got this one for serious outdoor activity. This one will most likely be carried in a pack while hiking.

The real distinguishing feature of this knife is its "mud proofing". Basically, this consists of a sealed lock release...

... and a gasketed pivot.

The fit of these elements appear excellent and should do their assigned task very well. One Note: The gaskets do not impact the smoothness when opening the knife. It's just as easy as other one-handed openers in my collection.

Overall, I'm impressed with the thought that went into this design and, or course, the final result; it's has a very striking look!

Cool knife, thanks for the pictures. I'll have to see if I can add that to my collection soon.

I've had mine for a while now - but I bought a blem from Kershawguy. I took the clip off mine, added a lanyard, and sanded down the edges of the G10 as mine tended to be sharp when I got it.

It's been a great knife and I've put it through some pretty hard use.

BTW - you can use two 1/16" drill bits as a makeshift spanner tool. I picked up a two pack cheap at the local hardware store.

Of the ZT line, the 500, is the only one I've kept. No re curve, and real easy to hang on too.

I've got pretty big mitts - I wear XL gloves - so I hope this helps. The knife is a handful.

Thanks for beating me to it! My title was referring to the fact it had arrived, but yes size reference would be handy.

For those of you that are engineers, here are the actual specs:

Steel: 154CM stainless-steel with Tungsten DLC coating
Blade Length: 3 3/4 in. (9.5 cm)
Overall Length: 8 7/8 in. (22.5 cm)
Weight: 4.9 oz.

I've always wanted one of these since they came out but never got one for some reason. Probably because I'd rather use a fixed blade when a folder gets that big, but thats because I live on 5 acres and am always putting my knives to some sort of hard work. However as far as folders go that thing is a beast for sure! I had a chance to get a blem at the Kershaw factory blem sale last year but spent the hundred dollars on a g10 offset instead. I'm still kicking my butt to this day for getting the offset instead of the 500. I think I'll have to get one before they're completely gone though, being that they're discontinued. That sealed pivot and lock is cool for sure.
