I'm looking to get one of these two knives next and have never handled either. I have a ZT0301 and ZT0200 and like them a lot for their quality and robustness. I also have an Al Mar Nomand and I'm extremely impressed by the build quality and liner lock (even better than the Military IMO). Let me know which you like more, pics are great!

They are both great knives and there is no way to decide on one or the other, you must therefore, buy both. Just suck it up and do it. :D:D:D

The ZT mudd is a very unique knife. However, after handling it several times, I could not get over the rather cheap feeling construction. It certainly doesn’t feel like ZT’s other knives in that sense. In fact, I bought a 0200 instead of a mudd for that reason. Don’t expect a 0200-0300 series experience if you get a 0500 mudd. It is probably a very good knife, but it isn’t a tank like the 0200-0300’s. (It isn’t as heavy either).

The SERE 2000 on the other hand, exudes quality. The fit and finish is outstanding.
It puts many of my higher price folders to shame in that regard. I originally bought a mini-SERE and liked it so much that I bought the full size later. It is very rare that I buy two of the same brand/style of knife, even in different sizes, so I was pretty impressed the first time.

The SERE has a very good black coating on them as well, much harder and slicker than other brands I have. I avoid black blades if possible. I prefer them on the SERE’s.

For the price, I would suggest a SERE long before I would suggest a Sebenza or Umnumzaan, which I also own. They are that good.

The MUDD is a specialized knife of course. Too early to tell on this one, I haven't handled it yet but I would definitely go for the SERE 2K, I EDC'd one for 2 years now and it has been rock steady.
