What can I put on the threads of my ZT pivot screw to keep it in place?
Is it really something I have to worry about?

I use teflon (plumber's) tape on most of my pivots to keep them in place. Loctite (purple or blue) is another choice, but teflon tape is cleaner when you take it apart the next time :)

I noticed with my 560 that the pivot stayed in place until I had taken it apart maybe 5-6 times, and then I had to use the tape. My 300 I run without anything, and it's been fine. Kai brands are definitely above the norm when it comes to good threading on their pivots.

I got my ZTs long enough ago I can't remember for sure, but I know for sure my latest Kershaws all came with loctite on the screws, so from that I assume the ZTs do also. Hence if you haven't taken it apart yet, you shouldn't need to do so just to put something on, if that's what you're asking.

Blue loctite. Works like a dream and is cheap. Make sure you don't use red though or you'll have a heck of a time getting it back out
