I just bought a ZT0301 and ZT0350CB. Both knives have WOW'ed me more than any other knife I've purchased recently (Ti Mily & Alias I are the other new purchases).

I'm really liking the 301's design/pattern but I also really liking the 350's size. Any plans to make a mini-300 series??? I promise to buy at least one!! :)

I have a ZT 301 as well. I got a blem from Kershawguy here on the forum ( awsome to deal with ). Still looking for the blem !!! Wish strider had QC like ZT does. Awsome knife. Its a little heavy, but I love it. The flipper is sooooooo smooth and cool.

I don't understand your question. Isn't the 0350 the smaller size of the 0301? They look the same for the most part to me.

What are you looking for that is different than the 0350?

Edit: I have just read a couple product descriptions for the 0350 where it is described as a 10% smaller 0300. Sounds like it is exactly what you are asking for. Here are the pictures of both and they look nearly identical.

They are almost the same. The 0301 is a Ti framelock, the 0350 is a linerlock. The 0301 has the 3d machined handle texture on both sides as well. Though in my experience the 0350's default flat G10 texture seems to offer more friction.

The ZT550 looks to be the closest we'll get to a mini-300. It also has a titanium framelock.

I was utterly amazed when I recieved my ZT 0300. Wanted the 0301 but Dave was out of em.

These knives have fantastic fit, finish and quality.

I'm waiting on the release of the 0550 and will probably pick one of those up as well.

yeah my 0300 is probably the only knife Ill carry. This thing is a TANK!!!

OT: Could anyone tell the defference in weight between the 0300 and the 0301/2 because I couldn't..

I believe the OP to be asking for the build (3-D machined G-10 front scale and 3-D machined Ti Framelock,) of a 0300, but more the size of a 0350.

No plans at this time. Sorry.

Bingo Thomas!! That is exactly the question.
Sorry to hear no plans at this time.

OK then, second question...has there been discussion for future production? Maybe a little sprint run discussion. :) Sorry I know business secrets. Well it was just a thought. I think all the love I hear for the 300 series would immediately translate to a mini-300.

why not just wait for that new 550?

I am waiting and I want the Hinderer ZT badly, but I don't consider them similar knives. Do you think this?

The idea is the machined Ti lock, machined G10, and other upscale features from the 300 series in a 350 size knife. It’s a natural evolution to me. CRK did it, Bradley did it, BM does it...it seem like something that would work well and be in demand due the fact you get all the style of the 300 series in a slightly lighter weight and slightly smaller blade. I find it very curious that anyone would be resistant to the idea.

They did it already with the 0350. They made the 0301 10% smaller and it became the 0350. They just also happened to make some small changes like flat G10 slabs and a liner lock. If they made a 0350 size 0301, it would be the exact same shape and size as the 0350 only with a frame lock. I think a more feasible option would be to do a sprint run of the 0350 but with a frame lock and fancy steel. A sprint run seems more likely to happen than making another knife model that has the exact same profile as a current production knife.

We have had the discussion of a mini 300 with the same build as the 0300 series. Ultimately, the price difference would have been so small between the two, it just didn't make much sense to us. We opted for the 0350 build instead.

A sprint run...I just don't see it in the future.

Let me try again in bullet format. I said above:

So you see point by point...what I was saying is IMO a machined G10, machined Ti framelock would be great in a 350's size. I certainly have no issues living with my 350CB. I really really like it.

Also, To say "hey they did it that already with the 350" is like saying to the guy who want's a Lexus ES330, "hey they got a Camry already."

Anyway, Thomas says are no plans at this time so it's all a mute point anyway. I hope he'll keep the idea in mind for the future.

I had assumed there would be no price differences in cost or sale price. I can see how people would believe they are getting less value if the size of the knife is smaller. That's to bad. Still an interesting concept

Do you see the 300 series being converted over to a 350 pattern but retaining its current size?

I do not disagree by any means.. in fact, shortly after buying my 350 I asked around to see if anyone did a framelock conversion... but after seeing the 550, the handle shape looks more appealing (kinda like a fusion of SNG and an XM handle, both of which are VERY ergonomic) and the blade shape/size is comparable to the 350... to me.. it is better than an evolution...

On another note: The liner on the 350 is very stout.. why not just get Mr. Dobson to make you some 3d scales for the 350? He does amazing work... I'll see if I can find a photo....

Images Are Credited to Mr. Dobson - hope you don't mind me borrowing them Phillip :)

Man the Linen Micarta scale is really nice! Do you have a link to Mr. Dobson?

I think that is black G10 in top pic, translucent G10 below it, and CF in bottom image.

His name on here is Phillip Dobson

his website: http://www.phillipdobson.com/

Not sure if I should be posting his email on here, so shoot him a PM.
Edit: see his email on his website... so i guess it doesn't matter: dobsonboxes@gmail.com

I can, as well as many other members here, without a doubt say he does great work - and his prices are very reasonable.
