ZT size compared to full-size BM Grip'

Good evening,

I am looking at the Zero Tolerance line and am having a hard time figuring out which model to buy. I've watched Youtube videos and read numerous posts.

What I cannot determine exactly is how big these knives are. My comparison knife is a BM full-size Grip' that I EDC for work. It seems that the 0350 models is about this size? The 300 series are just a bit bigger? And the 200 is substantially bigger? I may be way off...........

Any thoughts for me on how the sizes compare?

Thanks a lot for your help and time.

Christian.

The 300 Is a LOT thinner and about 1 inch longer. (after measuring)

I'll try and get some pics up.

Hi Turk.919- thanks for the reply. Pictures would be very helpful if you wouldn't mind.

I've got all the three ZT's and a large grip. I'll also see about putting all four together.

One thing you can always use, even though it's not as good as a person's side by side...

Go to iruler.net and do fn+prt sc - paste it in Paint

Grab a photo of the knife/knives shot straight on and paste next to the ruler, while still selected go to Image - Resize/Skew and change it a little until it matches up with the ruler going by manufacturer specs.

Thank you both for your picture help and suggestions on the ruler! I wish I had someone in a BM store I could visit to compare but I don't. Thanks again.

A daytime picture would have been better and I shouldn't have put the 200 on that black setter but....here it is.
You can see the 350 is more wide, about the same in length, but it is thinner. Get the 350, its a great knife and I can't remember anything posting that they didn't like it. Frankly you don't see all that many on the sale threads.

Awesome Flatlander. Thanks a lot! I just looked at your location........I'm in Newcastle. An old college friend of mine lives in Lewiston and my brother-in-law works in Lisbon Falls. Great to see another Mainer.

Given the choice of the 350 v. the BM, which would you prefer? How do you like sharpening the curve of the ZT blade? I use a Gatco now. What do you use?

Thanks again.

So do you think the ZG350 is for you?

I've lived in Maine for 11 years and have barely gotton used to the winters.

To the OP, Great question!

And to those who answered, and for the pictures-Thanks!

I've had some questions about the ZT0200 myself

Flatlander1963- we've got another one coming! Trying to get the sander/plow and machines ready for snow.........not quite yet I hope.

Yes, the 350 seems to be the one to consider based on your pictures. And as you've noted it's really well received. I've not found anyone with major issues regarding the knife. I think the 200 is big for EDC/work and the 300 series while not as long seem pretty wide. My only consideration is the curve in the blade as I'm not a great free-hand sharpener, relying on my Gatco instead. Guess I ought to learn to do it well. I've been watching the 550 thread but it's more money obviously................

Thanks again for your help!

You might like the 0400 also. It's the lightest and slimmest of the pack - liners are nested into the aluminum handles. I don't know if the newer, smaller, less expensive ZT models are available yet. The handles are what does it for me with the 0200 and 0400 though. I had an 0400 in my hand 2 years ago and almost used some food and gas money on it.

I have the zt 0200 that I EDC everyday especially for work. It is great. Note: I have big hands, and prefer larger/heavier knives, so its perfect for me

OrdnanceBubbaUSMC and Chinikaylo- thanks for the replies. I'll check out the 400 and I am still considering the 200.

I'm new to the Zt line as I picked up a NIB ZT0200 last week. My 0200 is my EDC but keep in mind that its thick and heavy. Its a great knife and I'm sure you will like it. ;)
