Hi,
I own a couple of ZT knives; an 0350 and an 0400ST. These are great knives, and I like them even more than the ones from the regular Kershaw division.

Regarding the Speedsafe feature, if it were to ever break or wear out, would the ZT knives continue to function like normal liner-lock knives, meaning the ball detent still holding them closed, and the action remaining smooth?

Not that I expect that to happen anytime soon. Thanks for any comments or info.

Edit to add:
I do own some Kershaw Speedsafes, but since the ZTs seem designed for extra toughness and reliability, I wanted to know if they would still perform reliably if that function were somehow compromised.

I seem to recall that the only issue with a broken torsion bar in a speedsafe knife lies in knives such as the Offset or Bump where the lock is a stud lock and there is no detent... I could be wrong however, this is only my recollection!!

I couldn't tell you if they have a detent to keep them closed, but I can tell you that Kershaw has some of the best customer service in the knife business, and would most likely send you a new torsion bar free of charge should yours ever break.

I will add to this point...I took my spring out of my ZT 0350 and it is smooth as glass so IMO its a winner with or without the speed safe option.

If memory serves me right my 350 did not have a detent... could be mistaken.
The Kershaw folks have been known to peek at this forum once in a while.
From what I've experienced and seen, they've done a great job of seeing that their customers got what they've paid for.

Kershaw has made me a very happy customer.

The 350 does have a ball detent. The only issue you'll have with a broken spring is the rattle. Of course that's solved once you take the knife apart and take the broken spring out. It will work with or without a spring. The spring does provide some resistance to opening the knife, but the detent by itself is 'good' enough for the blade not to open on its own.

I cracked the torsion bar on my blur, and i had a new torsion bar 4-5 days later. no questions asked. I LOVE KERSHAW!

Thanks for all the comments!
I will have no more worries about the possibility of a torsion bar breaking or wearing out now! I really feel these ZT knives are of excellent quality and they work well/feel great in the hand.
