I see lots of posts about the ZT folders, but was wondering if anyone had any comments about the fixed blade ZT0121? It looks like an interesting knife.

There have been a lot of write ups in other parts of the forum. Try a general search.

I see a lot of good deals recently. Are they discontinued?

JK - There is a passaround going right now with reviews. I really like mine, good size and useful blade. Dave has a real good price on it.

Yes

Yes

I read the few actual reviews in the passaround thread. You are correct, Dave has a real good price, too good to pass up! Thanks to my good friend mqqn, who gave me a great deal on a 0350 a week ago, I`ve now got a 0350, 0550,(also from Dave), and the 0121 on the way.

Yes, I believe they were DC'd. There are indeed some fantastic deals for the 0121 right now.

OP, I've only had mine for a week, but my first impression is a good one. You'll hear a lot about the handle being too short - That's not entirely true unless you have hamhocks as hands. I have fairly large hands but thin fingers. It works for me just fine. I actually like that the handle is shorter - It doesnt need to be long on this knife.

The knife is a bulldog, ready to take on the toughest of jobs. If you buy one you'll like it. Plus, at the price they're being offered, they can't be beat.

Im interested to know what you think of the 0121 since you are a maker.

I agree 100% I have very large hands but the handle works fine and is proportioned to the rest of the knife. I think there will be a lot of people who regret not picking one up while they are still available, especially at the price you can get them for now.

I wanted to wait a few days and use it a bit before I answered this question. So far, I`m totally impressed with it. I have somewhat large hands, but it fits me perfect. I can`t find anything to complain about, and I`m pretty picky. I bought it to keep in my car, since the knives I make are carbon steel traditional styles, and would end up rusting. I`m happy with my choice, and also with Dave`s service, 2 days from ordering to getting it.

I just got mine as I was packing up to head out for a 4 day camping trip and I've got to say...

I typically hate coated blades, kooky spine-shapes, recurve-blades, short-handled fixed blades, and overly thick (sharpened pry-bars), but I absolutely love this knife.

I cannot bring myself to even think about selling it even though I bought it with some pretty big apprehension/preconceived notions about it (but I had to try it out and since they discontinued it, there are a ton of good deals to be hand out there right now).

It is heavy, but it is also very much a "big" little knife. The handle is more than large enough for anyone that doesn't have enormous hands. The blade/handle ratio is probably as perfect as you can get - more than enough blade for the size handle you get.

The scales are thick (as is the blade-stock .192" at the spine) which give it a heavy feel and make it good for small hacking/chopping jobs. The kooky hump in the scale makes for a perfect point of leverage to use your thumb (or for intricate cutting, you can put your index finger just forward of the hump). The choil makes for a more balanced feel (it is slightly heavier in the handle than the blade).

The coating on it is extremely durable as I used mine for quite a bit of light-duty stuff this weekend and it still looks almost new. The S30V is motherF@#$ing hard and the edge on mine is still very impressively sharp (especially for S30V - I'm used to having to maintain it back from that "working edge" constantly).

The sheath it comes with is pretty awesome as well - if I had one complaint (other than the overall weight) it would be that the little snap-strap likes to get back into the path of the blade when you unsheath the knife. So when it comes time to re-sheath it, you end up nearly cutting the snap-strap if you're not purposely trying to miss it (which takes two hands and is kind of annoying). Love the Kydex and love the tec-lok like mechanism they used - I actually like "American Sportsmens Products" design (used by ZT on the 0121) better than the tec lok.

All in all, this knife has impressed me enough that I'm probably going to keep it. It is not a lightweight knife by any means, but it is a pint-sized little tough knife that will handle just about anything you can throw at it.

That is what I was going to say. My complaint in addition to the strap is that its riveted to the lock and not quite tecklock compatible without some work. I like mounting options.
