Just received a Dendra Deer Hunter yesterday, a very impressive knife, especially with a cost just north of a $100 bill. Once in my hand I immediately begin to draw parallels to the ZT0200. The Dendra is just a little bit smaller than the 0200, really hardly noticeable in fact. Construction is identical to the ZT, a linerlock with the same .080" thick steel liners, a .160" thick blade that is 3.75" in length and made from D2 steel @ 60-62 HRC, and handle scales of machined G-10. Though the scales on the Dendra are even in thickness from front to back, and this knife just feels awesome in my hand. The flipper, like many have mentioned, takes some break in time and I am still breaking it in. Using the thumb studs lets the blade open with no problems. Lockup is rock solid with no movement in any direction, and the liner is just covered by the blade tang leaving plenty or room for any wear that might occur. One thing I would like to see would be phospher/ bronze washers instead of the teflon washers it currently has. The only reason I want the p/b washers is because they do not compress and possibly tear. I keep a fairly tight pivot and the p/b washers just have a more solid feel to them.

Overall I am really impressed with this knife. I didn't mention the fit/finish and it is excellent. Scales and liners are in line with each other, with no gaps between liners, scales, or backspacer. The blade is centered within the handle when closed. I would like to see a foldover pocket clip because I like my knife not to be readily seen, but the clip provided does put most of the knife into your pocket with only the back tip sticking out. I have taken the clip off and covered it's shiny surface with some black 3M Stair Step tape taking care of that shine! This is a great feeling knife with a solid feel in your hand due to the 7.3 ounces it weighs, only off by .5 ounces from the 0200. The big difference to me is the straight edge of the blade with no recurve like that of the ZT0200. Of course, as with all new toys we receive, I have it in my right front pocket where it has been all day.

I have been very interested in Dendra knives. Cool designs, good materials, and a great prices all from an awesome manufacturer (Lion Steel). If I ever get the spare money I will have a Dendra in my pocket.

Also to take the shine off the clip, I use heat shrink tubing. It coats the clip in matte black and also makes it not mark the scales. Win win!

I can do pics, but they are awful cell phone pics. I should have mentioned that the ZT uses 154CM blade steel, thanks for the reminder.

Don't have a Dendra, but how about a ZT200 with no recurve and invisible thumbstuds?

That knife was made to not be a recurve. Not sure on the thumb stud removal, though. It isn't like it has the thumb grater of the Speedform 2 or Blur, so it wasn't harmful to keep around.

The thumbstuds primarily act as blade stops.

Not on the 200 and 400, that's why I removed them. I always use the flipper with those anyway, and the thumbdisk can get in the way of sharpening. I can still open it with that little hole though, there's enough traction.

Don't forget invisible thumbstuds. I also do conventional V-grind edges on some of my Emersons, and de-assist whenever I can. Yea, I live dangerously.

Dendra Knives give you a lot of value and are high-quality made by LionSteel. Comparison of Deer Hunter and Typhoon with liner locks and either Micarta or G-10 to ZT 0200 is apt. LionSteel does a great D2. There are also the titanium frame lock Dendra Knives (no hardened stainless steel insert on lock face so you have to fix the stickiness): Tiger Jump and Defender. All Dendra folders have 3.75" blade lengths. The flipper action takes a while to get smooth.

I'll take a side by side comparison pictures of Dendra Deer Hunter and ZT 0200 tomorrow.

I'll bet you are crazy enough to have already removed the tags off your pillows and mattress, despite being under penalty of law. What's next!

To each his own ofcourse but that modified bladeshape really messes with the overall lines of the knife imo. The 0200 handle is way to organically shaped for that straighter edge and the loss of real estate on the blade makes it look too slender in comparison to the massive handle. Lastly the newly created thumbhole is too small to look natural. No offense man but that just doesn't look very appealing to me. But again to each his own ofcourse!

No offense taken at all. Then again, the Dendra Deer Hunter does have the organically-shaped handle with the non-recurve blade.

@Rev: tags were removed with the knife ! :D

Wow, those really do like two sides of the same coin. Very different with a ton of similarities. Interesting...
