zt0200 vs tactical bump

Like the title says, what would you prefer?

I really like the Bump's design and style, and the Stud Lock is a winner. That said, the ZT0200's liner lock is basically a frame lock covered by a G10 scale, and is certainly stronger than almost any other liner lock. The ZT0200 is a strong knife all around from every account (I don't have one yet so can't do a personal comparison) , but the Bump is no slouch either.

Right this minute I prefer my Bumps...(a Speed Bump with Black Aluminum scales and a Spec Bump)...after all, they're what I have. ;)

However, I'd like a 0200...also, don't forget the ZT0300s...:D

Too many Kershaws, too little time...it's easy to see why so many of us have so many of them...

Ray :)

I held both--I'd get the bump, but that's just me--I like the Stud lock (wish Kershaw would implement this into more of their knives) and how it fit in my hand--pocket clip is for tip down, RH only though--the ZT has everything I think. You could get STR to do a pocket clip for you though.
If you have the money though--get both :D

This question of lock strength seems to keep coming up a lot recently...

Owning Kershaws with frame, stud and liner locks, I've got to say that there's really no way any of these locks would fail under even the hardest of everyday use. In using very sharp and pointy knives that can cause bodily harm, it's a good thing to visually inspect and clean your knives on a regular basis. STR has a good way to test your knives without whacking them against a table.

Somewhere I remember one of the Kershaw guys talking about a "failure machine" or something similar that they used to test the amount of force it takes to make their locks fail. It was some ungodly high number. Perhaps Thomas or Tim will address this again.

Here's a quote from Tim in an earlier thread on the subject.

have tested the Studlock against all of our other locks and it is near the top of the list.We have built a custom lock breaking machine to test locks and every one of our knives goes through this test. The Spec Bump will out perform any liner lock on the market.

I like the 0200 quite a bit. It is an incredibly well made, really beefy, solid knife.
I still like the Spec Bump a bit more though. As incredibly smooth as the 0200 is, you just can't compare it to any of the stud lock knives. There is nothing to cause drag when you open a stud lock knife. The Spec Bump is also very solidly built, though I don't believe any of the components are as thick as the 0200's.

I'll have to give the standard Kershaw Forum answer and say buy both, you will eventually anyway. :D
