Just finished this one up last night... the s30v blade in it should be perfect at 15 dps.

I'll repeat it again: Wow! Very Impressive. So when you reground, do I take it to mean you just flattened the plane from the thickest part of the blade to the edge? I think you call that a zero grind? It's like what you did on the previous thread "insane performance boost" thread, right? Except for the taped up part of the teeth which I understand, that looks factory.

And you say it appears strong enough to withstand lateral damage?

Exactly. The only thing i would not use this for would be heavy batoning or heavy prying. But for most every edc tasks most people would need it for this would be amazing =)

and I'm not trying to be a tactical mall ninja here, I'm just trying to get a feel of the strength of the blade after regrind: with an regular zt301, I get the sense that if I had the strength, I would be able to punch the blade through the outside layer of a car door. I've not actually tried this, i just get the sense from feeling the heft of the knife in my hand. Do you think the reground blade would be able to still punch through the outside layer of a car door? Assuming you agree with the assumption that it could do that prior to the regrind.

Again, that is a very sweet looking result.

Well it is more designed now for slicing instead of hard use... I don't think you would ever need it to go through anything like that as that isn't really a practical example. I would have no qualms with batonning/chopping through light brush up to finger width or even batonning through light wire (17 ga). It would get damaged w/ wire but it could be repaired easily enough. But I wouldn't go much heavier than this w/ out testing. But as far as "prying a car door open" you aren't worried about damage anyway and this would hold up just fine as the spine width wasn't compromised/changed at all. hope this helps! thanks for the questions ;)
