What is the slot at the pivot on the ZT0308? Does it serve a purpose?

No. Great knife though.

You may think it's there to make sure dirt collects in the pivot or to weaken that area in case milling out to fit the bearings in didn't do that already when the 3xx series was originally a heavy duty design... but in actuality it's just there for aesthetics.

A nice side effect though is you can clean and oil the detent track without taking it apart. That's legitimately a nice bonus.

That's true. Ignoring the hole, that Pivot is the best pivot ZT has ever done, IMHO. Heavy like a Hinderer, and easy/fine to adjust.
