ZT0350 coating question

I have decided on the ZT0350 as my long term edc. I was curious about the coating on the blade. How is it for wear? Anyone here edc a 0350? Does the coating show much wear? Will be using for daily edc in a light industrial, ranching, carpentry action as well as camping and freshwater fishing. I see there are satin or stonewashed versions out there. Just wondering if anyone had an evaluation of the coating durability and is it needed on S30V? I am not in the military anymore so shine is not a particular factor. Thanks for any info or opinions.

The Tugsten DLC coating is an IONBOND PVD coating. It measures up with the best coatings out there, having a Rockwell hardness in the 80's. After 3 years of EDC use, the coating on my Tanto Groove has faded slightly and worn near the high areas where I use the knife the most.

I prefer to have the coating due to increased corrosion resistance. I perspire more than others, somewhat, and it can get humid here periodically. I also prefer the "coated" look.

The black DLC coating is the best on the market but it started to get scratched and look like crap a few days after using it. I had mine reground and the coating removed and now it never leaves my pocket.

Any coating will wear off, but DLC is one of the best and most expensive black coatings out there. It shouldn't wear off too easily under normal use.

Nice regrind-work!

It most likely wasn't the coating itself getting scratched. What happens most times is that whatever you're cutting deposits itself onto the coating (such as aluminum) and will rub / wipe off if you have windex and a scrubber.

I EDC a 0350 and find the coating extremely durable. I mainly use the knife at work to cut box straps and breakdown cardboard. With a little WD-40 the marks just clean right off.
