Hey guys, I made a post earlier about choosing a knife and was suggested the zt 0350 and then I found the zt 0566 and I like them both. I like that the 0350 has s30v steel but I haven't had any experience with either of these knives and was wondering which on would be a better choice

ZT 0566 all the way.

Better blade shape.

Great size. The Elmax steel is better than advertised.

Easy to carry.

I have a 0350 and like it. Its a little heavy and pretty thick, but it feels good in the hand and carries pretty well. It isnt much of a slicer though, its kinda thick behind the edge. I think it is a good hard use knife. I have no experience with the 0566.

I like heavy and thick knives. I am looking for a knife that I can depend on for every day use and will probably get beat up a little and that's why I was sure about the elmax steel

Easy one: 0350SW all the way!
Why you ask? Just because I hate Frame-Locks ;)

I have an 0350 and there are only two things I don't like about. The textured G10 under the clip likes to eat pocket edges, and the recurve blade is annoying to sharpen. If the 0566 had been out when I bought my 0350, I wouldn't have even had to think about it.

I find that the g10 is on the smoother side, but mine is pretty well used. Its a hard knife to sharpen on a stone, but i have no problem sharpening it with my lansky.

I can't speak for the 0566 but the 0350 is a beast. My first ZT and the quality is probably better then any knife I own.

The 350 was my first ZT (actually the 200 was my first but I traded it back at the store for the 0350 because I found the 200 too big and heavy). As RD said, if the 566 was available at the time I'd have got the 566 over the 350 for the same reasons...recurve blade looks like a PITA to sharpen, I don't like the older clips on the 350. Since getting the 566 in Nov it's been my main EDC.

I have both and like both but there are differences. The 350 is wider and thicker, the blade steel sharpens nicely and holds a great edge.
The 566, in my opinion, fits the hand better. It is slimmer and less wide. The steel is also very nice. It too holds a great edge.

My 350 opens a bit quicker than the 566. There is also a sound difference as the blade hits the stops. The 350 has a sharper sound. I think it is due to the liners/G10 scales compared to the steel liner of the 566.

Both, again in my opinion, are very good EDC knives...at least for me living in Northern NY where it seems most people carry a knife and have more guns per household than any other area in the North East...I'd expect to get "looks" from people in more "liberal" or "civilized" areas.

I could not recommend one above the other except for how it feels in the hand and the 566 fits my hand better thought the 350 was not a problem.

I've had no problem sharpening the 350 using the Lansky system...I prefer to reprofile my knives when I get them and had no problems with the 350.

I think my 0350 is the best slicer I have in the "overbuilt" category. Comfortable in hand and the recurve is a plus if you can resharpen it. I don t have a problem with it. I think it s compact for a heavy duty knife.

0350 is a good choice, but it is difficult to sharpen if you haven't worked with recurves before. The 0566 is a good knife, especially due to blade steel. If you are looking for a user and you want to stick to $150...i would consider saving $15-20 more and get an 0550. I own a few ZTs and the 0550 is what finds the most EDC time. The S35VN blade steel is a dream and it carries comfortably despite its dimensions. You will not regret purchasing an 0550.

I'd go with the 0566. I love mine! Hinderer design, great size, great ergos, very well built knife... and it de-assists very well (flips great and is very smooth!) as I'm not a fan of assisted knives. In the interest of full disclosure I will admit that the 0350 has never appealed to me... so I am clearly biased! :)

Get the 566. Recurves are lame :p

Seriously though, between the two the Elmax in the 566 is a lot better than the S30V in the 350, and you are comparing a liner lock to a frame pock with a deep carry clip.

That's basically a choice between a Hinderer and Onion look. Both are pretty distinct and people usually have a clear opinion on who's style they prefer.
For me personally it's the Onion look. I like recurves for their cutting power.

I really like both of mine (350SW and 566) but I carry the 566 more because of it's smaller footprint in my pocket. It's also easier for me to handle because it's a bit narrower. I like the Elmax blade steel that ZT has used on the 566. It has sharpened up for me to beyond S30V levels and it's gotten there quicker. Most of my folder carry lately has been between my ZT 566 and one of my Para 2s. I have to admit that the 566 has done everything the Para 2s can do, including fine slicing, and done it just as well.

I'm surprised nobody has just said "both" yet ;)

I just purchased a 0350 today off the exchange to pair with my 0700. I'd say buy them both then sell or return the one you prefer least.. or just keep them both :D
