ZT0350 Steel/Labeling Question

I just today received a Zero Tolerance 0350 that I bought directly from Amazon.com. The description states that it is made of S30V and every review I could find repeats this except for a couple of mentions of a limited offering in ZDP189. Mine does not have any indication on the blade or anywhere on the packaging what steel it is. Is this just because S30V is a given on this model and the setup for laser etching the knife has changed since they introduced the ZDP model?

That is the S30v version. The ZDP version would say "0350ZDPCKT" above the KAI logo.

Also, the production # of the ZDP version was like 500 I think. Your serial number is over 10k.
 
I got one yesterday from amazon as well as a Christmas present for my son and noticed the blade steel was not marked as well. The older 0350 I have has the blade marked as S30V. I do not believe the blades are ZDP189 as the cost would be considerably more and I do not belive the ZDP blades have the DLC treatment.

I'm sure they are S30V as advertised.
 
Thanks guys! Yeah I didn't think it was ZDP189, but was concerned that maybe it was inauthentic.
 
I saw a 350 on fleabay that show's the XXXX. In the description it's stated that the x's are there because it was bought at a warehouse sale. I thought the x's meant a blem?

It was a blem bought AT the warehouse sale. The XXXX is the blem marking. Many are sold at the annual Kershaw warehouse sale.

It is a blem, and they sell many blems at the warehouse sale. Does the ad make sure to explain that it is a blem knife and carries no guarantee?
 
They do make an all ZDP-189 0350 that's DLC coated as well as a composite version in ZDP. All regular 0350's that I have held were marked S30V
 
Well maybe Thomas can let us know if the ZT 0350's that we received from amazon.com last week are the real deal since they aren't marked as S30V and what the story is for the change. My serial # is above 10k as well and it is marked exactly like Magnu's.

As stated before my older one is marked S30V. I think this is just another small change or "tweak". The new one is just as solid as my older one. These are terrific knives.

Nope, doesn't say anything about it being a blem. That's what caught my eye. Thanks Chevy!

They're the real deal.

Not sure what to say about the removal of the S30V markings.
 
Thanks Thomas, I really didn't have any doubt since the new 0350 is just as great as my older one. Magnu had started this thread with the original question about the markings and I'm sure he appreciates your help as well.
 
Long time lurker but this is my first post here. Liked the look and heft of ZT knives as I have been a spydie guy for 20 yrs.

I received my first ZT350 a few weeks ago and it was from amazon as well, and it was in the 11000 range and had the S30V marking on it.

THis will not be my last ZT. I was given a Kershaw red scallion yrs ago and really liked the assisted opening!

I just got my 0350 yesterday off Ebay. Said NIB ser# 7995? That seems odd being you guys are in the 10k range. It looks brand new never used, outside of the lock up being a little late. Mine say's s30v.
