I need some advice on my next, urgently soon, purchase. Im going to buy another ZT0350 but I dont know which one.... I love the Tiger Stripe looks, I thought it might hide wear and tear better than the black. Please correct me if Im wrong. I also love the KW (bead blasted satin) and the SW (stone washed) versions, but I dont know the difference between the two. Do they wear differently? Do they shine differently? I have a Spyderco Tenacious in Satin.. I think, and a Kershaw Speed Bump. Can you please compare the different finishes to these two blades? Pictures of the ZT0350SW have been hard to find online, the one Im talking about is from BladeHQ if you need to look it up. If someone has the SW model can you post some pictures please?? Thank you all for your time, knowlege, and your patience with this newbie. :D
ARES
If any of you have one of these models to sell I might be interested....depending on which I choose of course.

I know I posted in gen. , then thought I should have just posted in kershaw/zt.. bad move on my part

maybe they will delete one.

I think you can close you own thread if u wanted to close the one in gen. or maybe they'll merge them for ya

I dont own either but by looking at stock pix the bead blast 0350kw looks to be more matte than the other

Im going to try to close the one in gen.

Thank you for the input, they both look the same to me. I cant get good enough pictures of the SW to really see the difference.

Im just wondering if one hides wear better than the other.. The SW is really bright for a Stone Washed blade, most Ive seen are either greyish or spotted.

Hi Ares -

I don't have any experience with the coated versions - but my KW version does not show NOMAL wear - but I have not scratched the blade up - I just cut with it -

The TS coating will hold up really good. Its strong. The KW is bead blasted and can have a tendency to get rust spots while the SW finish resists rust a lot better. The look of the SW would hide more and it looks really nice too. Im not a fan of the appearance of the bead blasted look. My vote is for the SW or TS, Id like to see some good pics of the SW.

I did not know about the SW model, Thanks for the backwards heads up. Just Ordered one! I have the KW model and its great.

I assume you have a dlc one already? So you have one with s30v if so. Why not get the composite its a different steel and its bead blasted(best of both worlds)!

It's the exact same knife, the only difference is the blade finishes. Buy the one you like the best. You're going to be the one shelling out the money and possibly carrying it.

I had the black dlc one, its a nice knife. I was just wondering if any of the other finishes would hide wear better than the rest.. I am seriously thinking about the stonewashed one. Its nice looking and sounds like it will take the wear and tear in stride. I know none of them will last forever, but I just want it too look good as long as possible without being a shelf queen.

stonewash/tiger stripe will hide wear and tear the best. DLC may actually provide the most protection but it also shows wear the worst, in my opinion. i would avoid the bead blast/satin (0350KW) because i have issues with rust spots on that finish. never had any issues with rust on a stonewashed blade. i chose the tigerstripe, but stonewash would be my second choice.

The KW is actually now stone washed so the KW and SW should be the same knife with a different part number. The original run of KW knives were bead blast (I have one of both versions) and I like the latest version much better.

Thank you very much for the last two posts, and of course all others. Since you have both OvalmanPA, with has more of a shine in person? Just curious, is the stonewashed one a flat stonewash or like spotted/shimmery?? Thanks for the tip on the rust, I usually take a couple of my folders on hunting/camping trips for easy carry and depending on the season it can get very wet one day and dry the next.. Gotta love the desert. But most of the time the knife will be my work EDC, in an indoor environment. But I cut alot of boxes and what not so I want a blade that doesnt scratch up easy.

Youre welcome for the Info Nakahoshi. Im glad that this newbie could be the first to spot something for once. lol. :D

I ordered the ZT0350SW from BladeHQ! I couldnt help it, its just so beautiful. And with a good finish I wont be affraid to use it. My black DLC marked up really easy so I only carried it a couple of times then traded it. I want one I can use but will still look SEXY! :p I think I chose wisely, thanks to my brothers of blades! Thank you all for your great advice and for sharing your experiences.
