what do you guys think i should get next.

ZT0400 or the emerson commander???

any help please.

thanks

Those are very different knives. 400 has a tanto blade making it less of an evryday cutter with assisted opening metal handle with trak tek inserts. Commander is a recurve blade with g-10 coevered handles and no assist but wave feature. I wouldnt touch an Emerson till the CQC-15 drops but thats just me. I think the 15 is the best blade shape from Ernie yet. The 400 is very nice looking but seems to get the least hype of the line so I havent seen a single review on it. Will this be an edc/sd or just a collection knife?

In that case I would ask what is the prurpose of this knife. If it is to be on your person during duty either the 400 or Emerson would probably work good. Again since even as a LEO you will probably use your kinfe as a tool more than a weapon, I would go with a commander or CQC-15 type blade. The 15 in particular would offer both penetration qualities and a good everyday cutting edge. Both Emerson and ZT assisted opening knives should be quick to deploy, probably a slight edge to the Emerson. If the liner locks on the 400 are like the 200, then they are thick steel and very strong. Maybe One of our kershaw experts can chime in to tell us if they use the same liners. I dont think you will be unhappy with either. I would check out the Zero Tolerance 200 as well. It may have a better day to day blade shape for cutting chores.

be used as my tool and knifes i guess are always last defence, so yeah.
going to be getting either one soon, just need so help in chooseing one.

They're both great, but very different knives. I really like the blade shape on both, but I think that the Emerson's would be FAR more useful. I haven't handled the ZT4 yet, but it's pretty dang heavy knife.

I think I'm going to have to say the Emerson, and here's why.

It can be opened slowly which won't piss off PC consciouss people around you, it's less scary looking (to me), the blade, in my opinion, offers better utility, it weighs less so that's just less stuff to haul around, and it has wave opening, which means you're going to get that guy out way faster than an AO.
