I finally put my MUDD to the test and it came away with flying colors! I was doing some yardwork yesterday that called for a knife due to some root cutting chores along with trimming some bushes by removing some of their limbs. Worked for about 4 hours on this and during the root cutting I exposed the knife to some sandy soil, and to some wet red clay soil. Not once in the four hours did the knife fail in any way. Neither sand nor clay clogged up the works and the lock held just fine. After finishing I took the knife to my kitchen sink and placed it in some hot soapy water for a few minutes then rinsed it in hot water, to help dry it, placed it in my window where sun and wind could dry it the rest of the way. About 3 hours later I got it back in and tested the edge with some newsprint. While it tended to tear more than cut, the edge itself was not chipped any. I put it on my Sharpmaker with the grey stones for 50 swipes on each side then to the white stones for 50 more each side, after this it sliced through the newsprint like a hot knife through butter, and it popped the hairs when shaving!! I then turned my attention to the blade as far as the coating was concerned. there were marks on the blade, but not where the coating was worn off, rather where the material cut wore off onto the coating. I use Windex to remove this and then I used a polishing compound to further clean it. The results end up giving the blade a distinct grey color. While it took windx for the blade the hot soapy bath it had cleaned out the G-10 just fine. The MUDD is now back in my right front pocket and I am more in love with now than before. I guess it is true when people say that "actions speak louder than words"!!:D:thumbup::D

Is the MUDD a variation of the regular ZT 0500, or is it just a nickname for the same?
