What kind of edge comes on the 0550 (convex, saber, etc.)?

Is there a better edge I should put on the 0550 that will work better for everyday? use

It's got a V edge (not convex). It has a high flat grind. I recall one of the mods saying that ZT sharpens at 20 degrees per side.

The factory setup should work well for everyday use. If you wanted to put a finer edge on it, you could try a more acute angle. I'd try it as it is first, and if it's not doing what you need to your satisfaction, then start tinkering.

I have my ZT back bevel set at 34 deg inclusive and 44 deg micro bevel and it slices great. it is a pretty thick blade so i have found that combo of bevel deg works well.

Like the others said it is flat ground.

The factory edge works just fine for my uses, though I did end up with a couple (minor) chips in the blade. Nothing a few minutes on the sharpmaker couldn't fix.

I left mine at the 20 degree per side.

I think they come fine just the way they are. Mine came sharp and pretty even on both sides. I love a nice v edge though. I understand the concept behind a convex edge but im too ocd for that. I need to know both sodes are flat and at the exact same angle lol. I reprofiled my 551to 15 per side and its scary sharp. The elmax hold a thin edge pretty well even with some decently rough use imo.

which is 20 degress on a spyderco sharpmaker? The sticks closer or further apart?
