is it normal for ZT0560's to have just a little bit of up and down bladeplay?

it's really minute, I can't see it moving, but I can feel it.

I'm not worried about it, I'm just wondering if it's normal. is it what is called "lock rock"?

You do know that it isn't a fixed blade right? How can you have blade play that you can't see? At that point it just becomes flexing in the system, not play doesn't it? With lock rock is visible and audible rocking up and down of the blade. This is right up there with the guy that got spooked by the floating stop pin in his 560.

Blade play is present in all knives in some form or another, wether or not it is acceptable is up to the user. A miniscule amount of vertical play is not dangerous and doesnt constitute lock rock, which as previously posted is vertical play that makes an audible sound and is quite visible. Now in my experimce even a slight amount of play up and down can kill my enthusiasm for the knife but doesnt warrant a return or a replacement. In fact my most heavily used knife a kershaw od-1 has slight vertical play and I havent had any concerns to date. I understand your concern the zt's command a hefty price and its your hard earned money you spent (at least i hope it was hard earned and yours :p). I wouldnt worry too much but if you arent satisfied kershaw and zt have an awesome warranty and its worth giving them a call.

If it moves "freely" then it shouldn't. If you have to force it in order to move it, the lock is being flexed. IMO.
I don't like it; I don't accept it.
