Hey guys, so I have been messing around with Paint the last few days and existing knife designs, seeing what I could do to make the designs more desireable to myself. Anyways, I'm strongly considering buying a ZT0561 and doing the following to it:
Anyways, let me know what you think!

Overall, the aesthetics look good.

Are you adding a hollow grind to the blade? To me, the blade is a little too thick, making it a poor slicer. A hollow grind might solve that.

I'm not a big fan of blade choils, but I don't use that part of the blade much anyway.

The Spyderhole would make the blade quite a bit weaker, especially with the choil -- and the hollow grind, if that's what you're doing.

Honestly I think it looks gross. That doesn't mean I think it's a stupid idea though. It's just not appealing to me.

What were you planning on using to cut the oval out of the blade?

I wasn't sure. I was probably going to send it out to have the mods done, but use that as a template. I am starting to think it's a bit excessive, though. The cut-out was mainly aesthetics for me.

You should just have someone make you a custom based on that design. You'll probably have a more difficult time finding someone to do those mods to the 561. Looks cool BTW.

With the way that the detents are set on most 0560s ( so they flip as intended), one wave and your pocket would be ripped to hell.

If you're dead set on doing that, any machine shop close to you with an EDM could knock the wave, the hole, and the choil out in no time. Probably wouldnt be very cheap though. I would quote that at around 300.00 bucks for the cad/cam work and machine set up and run time.

I didn't even think of EDM. I was telling him it would be a royal bitch to do the thumb hole, even with a carbide endmill.

Not for me thanks. The lack of a choil is one of the reasons I think the 560 is superior to the Hinderer it is based on. As for the thumb hole, it's a flipper so I see no need for it. It's your knife, so by all means do what you like, but seriously, the 560 is one of the best, most complete packages in its class and I don't see any reason to mess with it (assuming you can live with it not being ultra-slicey)

That's cool man. I'm curious to see how it turns out.

And please don't take my previous post as a knock on your design idea.

Looks pretty nice, though I feel four opening methods to be a tad excessive.

Haha... I guess there are four.

I like it too. I prefer the opening hole but I would lose the wave. I would change the opening hole's shape to something more like Mayo or Strider but maybe yours would perform better. Who knows.
