ZT0562cf m390?

The steel was getting harder to get, so they switched to its equivalent from Carpenter.

Yep, this ^^.
First knife I know that officially made the change was actually the 0392. Originally it was going to have M390 blade steel, but then it was changed before production to 204p, and when ZT started production of their newer models for 2015, they changed over their steels on the older models at the same time as far as I know.

Honestly you shouldn't notice any difference in the blades besides the marking on them, so it hasn't really been a big deal for most people. In fact, I really don't get the whole thing with the M390 versions now selling for more than their retail on the secondary market. If you ask me, that is pretty stupid. I get that they're more limited in a sense, but the only real difference is the little laser etching on the blade. The steels are, for all intents and purposes, the exact same.

Compare the steel at zknives.com.
