Zt0566cfm390

If I were ever to buy an assisted opener, it would be that one, but $220 is hard to justify, for something I hate.

For $220 it needs a Ti lockside, IMHO. Then I would consider it. Hard to justify $20 more than an 0562, and for only $20 more you can get an 0562CF.

Yep. Just wanted to bring it to your attention. All the 056x series are too large for me to EDC, so I have no dog in this fight.

The thing I find interesting is that the 0562CF, a blade I consider to be a classic and obviously in very high demand, could presumably be back in production quickly if ZT made the decision to switch the steel from M390 to S35VN. As Derrick pointed out in his e-mail, M390 is getting hard to come by. Why ZT decided to use it in an 0566 rather than releasing another run of 0562CFs is baffling to me.

+1

A ZT0562CF with S35VN could be a flagship ZT knife, similar to how the ZT0300 and ZT0350 in S30V were. I still can't believe they discontinued them. A ZT0300/0350 is the kind of folding knife I would want in a war (if I could only have a folder that is :) ).

I would venture a guess that he had ordered these a while back before they had a shortage. The production schedule was most likely made up before the shortage also. These were on the schedule before the 0562 and therefor took precedence. My best guess anyhow.

As for the price difference, I would think due to it being upgraded with m390 and on top of that a dealer L.E. in limited numbers of sorts that has to do with it. Just as it has been ever since L.E.'s have been pumped out of the skunk works at Tualatin. Again, just my guess. I can understand where you are coming from though.

Everything said and Done this looks to be a sweet blade.

It would be cool if I could just get a m390 blade to swap out in my current 0566. I dont use it often enough to justify this kind of price. It does look great though, and I really like the large patterned carbon fiber they are using now.

It is a sweet knife.

I don't know how many were made, but they went out to the top dealers in the country. :)

They are on our ZTknives page.

Sign me up when it's Ti, and they fix the insane detent. Then I'll de-assist it, and use the thumbstuds.

I do think that M390 is a very good thing for this knife. But it has a long way to go before I'll spend $220 on it.

Especially when the street price for the 0562CF with Ti and KVT is only $20 more . . . when you can find it, that is.

Maybe ZT had enough M390 to make a limited run of 0566's but not enough to make a full run of 0562CFs. That's about the only reasonable explanation I can come up with. And yes, I agree about the new CF patterning on ZT knives. It's very attractive! :)

I have the 0566BWCF...with CF, stainless and Elmax, which can be found for a good $50 less. So I am having trouble getting too excited with this one.
