I never own Spyderco Tuff but alreay have a 0561.

I'm not so impressed with the quality of ZT, machined mark on Ti frame, rattling sound, and the blade steel also doesn't hold so well in my experience.

How good is the Tuff compared to the 056X? Thanks.

Spyderco makes some great knives no doubt, I've never used the knife you've mentioned but I've been pleased most Spyderco's I've owned.

Have you contacted ZT about sending in your 0561 to see if they can make you happy with it? I would ALWAYS give a company a chance to make things right before posting anything negative about them or their product (just seems fair). What problems have you encountered with the Elmax steel?

Best of luck!

Not happy with the 0561? oh man, get ready.

Just overlook the marketing and forums hype and you will see what actually is. I dont think my 0561 has defect of something since many people have same issue as me. C'mon.. how to happy if the lock bar just moving when I press on the blade spine.

I'm really impressed with Spyderco Galye Bradley anyway, almost half the price but GB has better F&F and much more solid for me. YMMV

No no no man, it wasn't against you. I had some of the same issues with my 560. I ended up sending it back to KAI, then selling it. I was given a Whaleshark and it's waayyyy better (And I'm sorry. I know that hits a sensitive spot for some). But Kershaw/ZT has quite the following here and to speak ill of them can be iffy. All good, I hope I didn't offend.

I can't speak for the Tuff, too over built for my tastes. But I did get the Techno and the Southfork. What Spyderco is putting out of Taichung lately is top notch. That being said, if the 561 was just not your cup of tea, have you seen Spydercos upcoming Southard flipper? Might be just what your looking for. Some of the same features of the 56x (CTS 204P steel, bearing system, flipper, Ti RIL).

I have both and one is a flipper with bearings, the other a lot tighter. I can't say one is better than the other but they are both great knives and either is not a better choice than the other. Just depends on what you want. In my case I want both! I would hang on to these two and sell a lot of others first.

I have a 561 with a very low serial number....018. I haven't had any problems it At All.

If I did I would definately send it back to KIA and give them a chance to make it like mine. I think Elmax holds an edge.

KIA is the best IMO about parts and repairs......at Least Give Them A Chance to fix your 561.....

I have a couple of knives in 3V but not a Tuff. 3V is a great steel. My 3V folder has a blade that's .208 thick. I have several Spydies. They make a fantastic products.

Check out the threads about the Tuff on the Spyderco forum.....lots of comments about it there.

I've actually been wondering the same thing. They both seem to be heavy and robust folders not to mention well liked. Its seems there's never a definitive answer given on which one would get the nod if funds allowed only one to be purchased.

Collaboration model is not my cup of tea...
my $0.2, it lacks originality.
I would give Tuff a vote, I owned both before, sold brown 0561 and keep TUFF.
