Hello all

just to share with you the pleasure to have with me tonight my 0640 with its custom micarta scales
These scales really change the feeling of the knife and give it some kind of justice to its EKI heritage ;)

I think the 0640 is an incredible knife
ZT does an excellent work with their non flipper knives on washers
The gen3 0550 was great and so is the 0640

they really made a “faux pas” with the CF (not even speaking about the colour)

mine is an user and I kind of compare it with my Umnumzaan for quality and robustness

shifting CF for micarta really makes sense on this knife

I am really streamed down my collection of ZT but still have some and the 0640 is one of the best

And IMO CF does not do justice to the Emerson designs
Micarta and G10 are much better configurations
 
Love me some green canvas micarta! It's my favorite! Every model ever made should come
wrapped in it. Thanx for posting pics and please keep em comin as it wears in.
 
Looks great! I love the "Micarta Morph" on a well loved knife. Those original scales are what has kept me from buying that model. I knew that I would need to have a scale replacement plan ready to go shortly after purchase. So it has been pushed down the list.
 
The CF scales on the 0640 is a hit or miss
I had the opportunity to have one in hand in a shop and on this knife the CF was looking ok with a lot of green into it

when I received mine the CF was a lot more yellow than green and I was not fine with it
I gave it a try for 3/4 weeks and decided to change for OD micarta and it was really worth it

at the beginning I had in mind to change the pocket clip but finally after a break in period I like it as it is
It carries high but it is quite in line with the Emerson clips and with a deep carry clip the knife is more difficult to pull out

I also held on in hand at a shop, and I liked the carbon fiber scales ok on that one. I m not a big carbon fiber fan and generally prefer g10 or micarta. But I really liked that 640. Your scales are an improvement over the carbon fiber.
If I get the 640, I ll probably leave the original scales. The 640 feels like a great knife.
 
I agree with those that said the scales killed the knife for them.
Oh well, it’s not like ZT has never been known to kill off a model then bring it back as a “LIMITED” knife that’s more attractive.
 
I think the 0640 can have some easy limited editions
A DLC comes first in mind
Some G-10 overlays with different steels also be proposed I think
Maybe we will be some released at some point
 
Who has replaced the clip for a deeper carry?

If yes, i would like some pictures of what you have done.

I am thinking to do that but I am not really sure if it will look good

I'm all in for some DLC and g10. I'd buy it instantly.
