Can anyone shows picture of the 0456 with a 0801 or a 0350 to get an idea of how they compare?
The detent on MY 0801 is lighter than that on my 0456. I can bump the flipper lightly and get the blade to move, but not fully deploy...mind you, that is intentional - if it were to happen when actually trying to open the blade, I'd chalk it up to laziness or poor technique. The 0456 takes more effort to get the blade moving; but, once it starts, it opens quickly, and locks solidly. (The 0095 is middle ground in both detent and action; and probably my preference for regular carry/use...the 0456 losing out mainly due to blade length)Having owned both I'd say that the action and build on the ZT 0456 is the better one. Not like worlds apart or anything, they're both ZT's but there are definitely some improvements in the action and design of the 0456, IMO.
I didn't care for it in its original form; but the blackwash version appealed to me. The milling is actually quite comfortable. I liked the 0801 quite a lot, and carried it when I didn't want the bulk of my 0200 (the weight of the 0200 never bothered me - love that knife; but sometimes something a little more subdued is appropriate)I'm not a fan of 801 because I don't like the milling at the handle.
