does anyone make a titanium scale to replace the g10 side of the zt300 series knife?? id like to remove the steel and g10 liners and replace with a solid titanium piece.

any help would be appreciated.

and i know its unnecessary and crazy but its pretty cool none the less.

If you replace the g10 side with a solid piece of Ti, you will have to remove the torsion bar, and the knife won't stay closed unless you drill a divot into the blade for the ball to fall into, creating a detent, you will then have a flipper, and not a speedsafe knife.

Drilling the detent would be cake compared to milling a scale from titanium. Additionally, anyone who could mill a scale like that would have no trouble putting the slot in for the torsion bar; even I can do that.

Good luck finding someone.

You could talk to STR but the mod will probably cost more than the knife.

My brother gets a lot of machining work done. Best advice would be to contact your local machinists and see what they can do on the CNC machines.

I warn you...you'd probably have to pay a substantial amount of money, so it wouldn't be cost effective. You might pay way more than you actually paid for the knife.

The scale would take lots skill, or programming on a computer, looks like all you would need after getting the general profile would be a ball mill for the texture. The bar is captured between the steel liner and the scale, without a liner, there won't be anything holding it in place. I think a flipper 0300 would be pretty cool, but I can't flip mine sliding my thumb nail off the spine of the blade, and the jimping chews up your finger...
