I thought it had been discontinued for a while now.
Sounds like a smart customer. Give the NCIS fans what they want.I received an order from a customer about doing another 0302 run. Probably will do it up in 2012, just not sure when.
Like a Leek with blue or orange G10 scales? :thumbup:There is money to be made with other colors of G-10 on most models, if you can find a distributor.
How do you explain personal taste? If I remember right, folks practically fought over different color scales for their new 0551's - at half the knife's purchase cost or more - for a piece of circuit board material. I thought it was quite handsome as delivered. Okay, I am a strange duck - I remove the clips when they make it through the front door. I opted for an 0301, despite my first 0300/01/02 sighting being the 02. Neat - but a little loud for EDC. When another batch hits the street, I just hope I can afford one - still like the 0302.

Probably because black scales on knives are a thing of the past, and to some they don't really stand out from the countless black on black or satin/beadblast on black knives available today. Colored scales tend to be exclusive to sprint runs and custom knives, so that's what the vocal enthusiasts are after, something a little out of the ordinary.
Can only speak for myself, but I don't think any of that went through my mind. I doubt if a single person who ever sees my 0551 will have any idea what "sprint run" means.
I'm a form-follows-function guy, and I just don't like decoration on tools. It's bad enough that you can't find a cordless drill that's not pimped up like an athletic shoe these days, but a knife is much more personal. The texturing on the scale was fine, but I didn't care for the brick-wall decoration at all, obviously contrived decoration applied to an otherwise very clean form-follows-function design, it seemed out of place, unnecessary and silly. I have the same reaction to the "swoopy" lines on the Knockout, obviously useless, strongly reminiscent of the decoration on a Coke can, and it screams "consumer product", not "serious tool". I went with the simple, utilitarian frag-pattern scale not so much for what it is as for what it isn't.
