I recently received my ZT 0551, and I feel fortunate to have gotten one. I great knife that I feel will serve me well for years to come. Prior purchasing the knife I read everything I could find about it, however, I do not remember seeing anything about the final hardness of ZT's treatment of ELMAX. Does anyone have any information on this?

For anyone that is interested, I received a reply from KAI USA about the final hardness of their ELMAX blades.

"The final Rockwell of the Elmax is varied between 58-62. For the 0551 my best guess for the final Rockwell would be around 61 but it can vary from batch to batch. I hope this helps and please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions."

begs the question, how many batches were there? two? three?

Have a ad in front of me on Uddeholm Elmax showing the Kershaw Speedform. Here is what it says:
Maximum cleanliness and a minimum powder size. That's the sucess of Uddehol's third generation of powder steel. Elmax is a perfectly balanced PM grade, with a good corrosion resistance, hardness of 60+ Rockwell and excellent edge retention.
