Ztuff experimental prequench

I’m trying a few things with ztuff. I don’t have much time to experiment these days. But I tried a prequench. I was able to hit 65-66 Rockwell pre temper on it. That’s the highest I’ve got so far. It’s in temper right now. Triple tempering at 400. I’m curious to see what my final hardness was. I austenized this piece at 1950x30 minutes after pre quench. Pre quench soak time was 30 minutes. Overnight cryo.

Yes sir. That’s what Larrin had told me. I finally ordered his book to. I have some reading cut out for me!! I’m hoping I can gain a little more toughness. I ground this blade thin. So we’ll see how it holds up. Final hardness after 3 tempers was 62-63.
