With the few Recurve models that Spyderco released the ZULU is probably my second most favorite. My ultimate favorite Spyderco Recurve model was the Spyderco/Kershaw collaboration known as the SPYKER. The SPYKER was truly a serious design and I'm surprised it didn't end up in the main line up. But as far as being a sturdy, hard use knife I would be very content to own the ZULU if I had a job that needed a Recurve style blade.
I think it's because very few people like Recurve blades or maybe it's just that few people realize the potential uses of them. Because Spyderco never had a Recurve model that lasted very long on the main line. And the ZULU actually lasted longer than the other from what I can remember. It is a really solid built unit and probably going to be a serious collector's piece down the road.
