Zytel Blade Spring Assisted Folder..Spy Gear

I have one--I bought it at a gun show several years ago. What impressed me was that the guy at the table had several that he had stuck into a block of wood. What's interesting is that the spring is beryllium, which, I'm told, will not register on a magnetometer (metal detector). I talked to one guy who took an international flight with one in his pocket (a stupid act, of course).

The blade will not really cut anything, but it will penetrate. Unless you are being chased by Hell's Angels hitmen or something, it is definitely a mall ninja item. I have never actually used mine for anything and would give it to you for free if you were standing here.

lol. Mall Ninja. I like that. Well, what I was thinking of having it for was more or less to stick it in my boot and have it with me at all times, all places. If it's undetectable, it could save someone's life when the criminals of the world decide not to abide by the laws and carry a weapon into a no weapons allowed zone. You know how those silly criminals are, not following weapon control laws and all, like the old men in Washington say they are suppose to.

Looks awesome, sounds awesome.

Au contraire. Looks mall ninja, sounds mall ninja.

If it looks like a duck and acts like a duck, I call it a duck.
you could call it a rose, but it still quacks.

So would it not make you a criminal for carrying a concealed weapon into a no weapons zone? And if there were detectors would not the criminals be the ones carrying non-detectable weapons? The knives are a letter opening POS. I have one in my hand right now. Got it for free from a friend who thought like you. The blade play is so bad that he realized that the only wood it would stick into was a pre-cut piece of wood. The blade would more than likely fold up if you tried to use it on a person:thumbdn:.

IMO this sort of material is poorly suited for folding knives, and a folder poorly suited for even the intended "mall ninja assassin" purpose. If you want to carry a knife through a metal detector there are far better designs with fixed blades. Not to mention there are countless other everyday objects likely to be more effective for SD not to mention less likely to land you in prison. Folders are better for cutting, not stabbing, and plastic etc materials are pretty much restricted to stab only.

A shame this has Blackie Collins' name on it, what is up with that?

Even more black!
Even more plastic!
And even more wannabe keywords per line of advertising!

Like school on Saturday, No Class. :thumbdn:

And it's cheap.

That says it all.

I've got a small collection of plastic weapons, both impact and stabbing. No folders -- mine are actually effective. Impact are more effective than stabbing.

Technique trumps technology: train your mind, the ultimate stealth weapon, and they'll never see what hit them. :D

My brother is going to order one for novelty. I on the other hand, am too poor for even this. lol.
I'll make me a wooden impact dowel type weapon. :)

Anyone got one of these yet?

Looks awesome, sounds awesome. But is it awesome? Would be great to have if it's not a piece of crud. And it's cheap.

Sorry to ask, but are you even old enough to shave?

I'm 31. I'm a collector of all sorts of junk and novelty items. But I'm mostly fascinated with sharp things that cut.

Sorry I asked, but I have to say that in these posts you really sounded like you were 13.

Try to stay away from the mall ninja stuff ;)

I have to admit I have a few black daggers, a few years later, I ask myself what was I thinking.

I was given one when I graduated from Ninja school. We also received cameo pencils so that we could hold them up and no one could see us.

They must work because I am holding up my pencil and none of you can see me!!!

It's ok man. I just thought Mall Ninja was funny, because I've been to the mall a few times, and around here anyways, it's all teenagers dressed in black. I put the two together there and laughed about it.

actually "mall ninja" stems from the security guards alot of whom are uber tactical due to fantasies of their duties being more adventurous than they are (allegedly)

as for the knife, i had one. didn't think too much of it. YES, it will pass through a metal detector, but i'm not sure it would pass through human flesh. total zero on any cutting and really iffy on a thrust. honestly, i'd prefer a sharp stick.

if you're into the whole stealth knife, in case we one day live in a society where metal detectors are everywhere, then check out Cold Steel's Nightshade series.

i happen to like some mall ninja type stuff. they are just interesting to play with, look at more than anything else.

i actually ordered a different blackie collins knife the other day. i ordered this dagger that comes with a sheath, it looked neat and is pretty cheap. makes a good last ditch weapon for self defense.

theres also the blackie collins ice scraper, nice little SD weapon.

Wow. And here I was under the impression that Blackie Collins was a somewhat respectable knifemaker. :barf:
