Zytel handled Spydercos pivot pin lube?

I am thinking about lubricating the pivot pin of my often-used Spyderco Endura. As it happens, I have some Chris Reeve flourinated grease on hand; the contents shows to contain Perflouralkylether. Instructions says it's good for friction areas on folding knives and guns. Especially effective on titanium to titanium or titanium to steel contact.

Is this stuff OK to use on Zytel handled Spyderco knives, or is some other lubricant favored? Thanks for any help.

I also wanna know what kinda lube would loosen an Endura besides frequent opening ;)

I have no idea about that Chris Reeve grease but I use bicycle chain lubricant on all my Spydercos. It's a high teflon based lubricant and I find that it works very well for me, better than White Lighning.

You might try this question in the CRK forum if you don't get a response here.

WD40 isn't really a "lube"...It's more of a solvent.

Anything *but* WD-40 will work just fine.

I agree that FP-10 is good stuff. Anything in that vein -- including BreakFree CLP -- is designed for far tougher tasks than knife pivots.

Tried white lightning... It ain't working as well as I thought.

WD-40 actually will gunk up your knife more than anything else. I use to clean my blades when they are dissasembled, but I wipe it off afterwards. 3 in 1 is good, but it is also a dirt magnet. I use Rem-Oil for my knives. It is a teflon lube that works pretty well in small amounts. Too much and you are going to get a sticky opening folder. Spyder drop that Endura about 100 or so times (teach it who's boss) and you'd be surprised how nice and smooth they get.
Good luck,
Matt
