Zytel stippling

I think I'm going to stipple/texture my scales. I have a dremel and a drill press. Do you guys that have done it prefer horizontal lines, vertical lines, dots or a mix?

Mine have little dots from a spring loaded punch,and well hopefully the picture will explain what I cant

Never done it myself but a lot of the polymer pistol guys use a soldering iron.
