Curious if anyone has had issues with the ti-lite becoming gritty over time. It eventually becomes almost impossible to open. Only option is to disassemble it and wipe the parts down. Im
Not sure if oiling the pivot area is a good idea as it may attract more dust. I don’t have this issue with any other cold steel folder.

Welcome to Bladeforums Leon.

If there's dirt or similar grit in the pivot it needs to be cleaned out. This can be done by squirting WD40 into the pivot then blow it out with compressed air, or by disassembly.

If the pivot washers are damaged or worn out they may need to be replaced. This is something you might only be able to tell for sure if you take the knife apart and inspect the washers. My Ti-Lite 4 has white plastic washers (nylon or teflon).

I've had mine for about 9 years and I've never experienced any feeling of grittiness, and it's been opened and closed a lot. But it also doesn't get exposed to anything particularly gritty either, nothing more than house dust and lint.

After I disassemble it and wipe it, it works smoothly for a few days. Then…seems like something is always getting between the small detent in the liner lock and the little groove it rides on on the bottom of the blade. It just seems very delicate and prone to any little bit of dust before the deployment gets so bad it won’t open all the way. Unless there’s some defect in it…it’s definitely not a EDC knife.
